Off Leash K9 of Northern Virginia

I had a wonderful experience with OffLeash K9 NOVA and our trainer Mark. They were quick to get me into an ideal 2 week board and train program based on our availability. Mark sent daily video updates every evening and called to talk through my preferred approach to handling reactivity. His communication was great from start to end. Mark still makes sure to be a resource whenever I need help with my dogs training journey!! I have already recommended OffLeash K9 and Mark specifically to friends and colleagues. Definitely worth the investment.

Dean at Off Leash K9 is an amazing trainer. This is the second time we’ve used him. He trained our first dog about two years ago and did an outstanding job. When we brought our new puppy to him, the difference was night and day from the moment we dropped her off. Our new dog is a bully breed and naturally hard-headed, but Dean worked wonders: she now walks off-leash, returns on command, and reliably sits and stays (place) until released. He handled her strong personality with patience, clear communication, and consistent methods that produced fast, lasting results. The training was professional and Dean once again made us feel comfortable leaving her in his care. She’s still a puppy and progress is ongoing, but we can already see Dean’s impact. If she turns out like our previous dog after training, it will be a true blessing. Dean’s expertise, patience, and genuine care for the dogs make him our go-to trainer. Highly recommended to anyone looking for real, reliable results.

I can’t say enough great things about our experience with Lily as our dog trainer. I was honestly worried that our 5-month-old pup wouldn’t be able to learn basic manners and leash walking in just two weeks—but Lily completely exceeded our expectations. She kept us updated every single day with detailed progress, which gave us so much confidence and peace of mind. The transformation in our pup has been incredible. He’s more well-behaved, responsive, and enjoyable to take out with us anywhere. What really stood out was how Lily didn’t just train our dog—she trained us too. She made sure we understood exactly how to maintain and transition the training at home, which made all the difference. My husband and I decided to adopt a Belgian Malinois named Manny from a rescue. We had an instant connection when we first met him, but boy were we in for it. Manny was found tied to a pole, skin burnt from living in his own filth, skin and bones, and teeth snapped and broken from trying to escape a crate he never left. He was an incredibly sweet boy who never knew kindness and was terrified of the world. These things caused issues with reactivity with people, dogs, and kids. He would also lash out at me when he felt too vulnerable. We knew he needed guidance to help him thrive and someone to show us how to help him get there. We first met John who was kind, professional, and knew his stuff. He highly recommended we work with Ian due to his experience with Mannys breed and reactivity and aggression. Belgian Malinois are not normal dogs. Manny was most certainly not a normal Malinois. From the moment we started with Ian he knew exactly what we were dealing with and how to help. When something just wasn’t working, he had a completely different approach to fit Mannys needs and complex thought process. We started to see such incredible results that gave us the ability to heal manny from the awful upbringing he endured. We are able to do things we didn’t think were possible due to the knowledge and understanding of how to help Manny. We are so blessed and grateful that Ian is a part of the Off-Leash team. We wouldn’t have stood a chance without him!
