Off Leash K9 Training, Birmingham

I recently had the pleasure of working with Justin Snead at Off Leash K9 Training to teach my 9-year-old Alaskan Malamute rescue, Nanook. From the start, Justin demonstrated exceptional patience and professionalism, guiding us through a series of well-structured commands that provided Nanook with much-needed discipline and focus. Despite Nanook’s large size and occasional eagerness to “show out” during training, Justin remained calm and supportive throughout each session. He designed each lesson with meticulous care, allowing me to watch his demonstration first before practicing with Nanook myself. This clear, step-by-step approach made it easy for both of us to learn, and it showcased Justin’s outstanding teaching style. Through Justin’s expertise and genuine passion for training, Nanook and I have gained valuable skills and a stronger bond. The 2 week anxiety board and train with Kendall worked wonders with my dog! I am already somewhat knowledgeable about training as I have 2 other dogs who are moderately well trained, but my standard poodle has always had BAD anxiety around new people and new environments. The training methods that I used with my other dogs did not work with him because he was so anxious. He would bark and pace around when people who were unfamiliar to him came to our house. He would often freeze in public out of fear, and I wouldn’t know what to do to make him comfortable/obedient in these scenarios. Kendall worked with him to build his confidence and show him that the world is not a scary place. He still has a long way to go since anxiety cannot be overcome within 2 weeks, but we have a great start now that he isn’t as scared of everything. I also love that we can reach out to the trainer at any time after the board and train program to ask questions, send videos, and ask for more tips on training improvement. The money was well spent for my dog’s happiness and wellbeing.

We can just not say enough good things about Justin and our experience with our board and train for our two-year-old, very timid and shy German Shepherd! Her transformation has been remarkable and it just blows everyone away how much she has changed for the better… Our home is less chaotic. She’s following all her commands. She walks at a perfect heel and she’s much more confident around other people. The place command has been life-changing for me… She is a literal Velcro dog, and I absolutely enjoy placing her on her cot and knowing that she will not move until I give her the break command and it just gives me so much more freedom that I didn’t even know I needed, lol! Justin sent daily videos and photos (his photos below BTW and he’s an excellent photographer as well!) and that was one of the best parts because we could tell that she was actually having fun and learning things and we also have the videos to reference for future information. The transition of bringing her back home was seamless. Justin was very effective at communicating how to handle the commands and her, and she was so well trained that we just picked up and ran with it. The only thing we regret is not finding Justin sooner!

We did lots of research and found Justin and reviewed his training videos. We decided to try his 2 week board and train program with our 1 year old puppy. The issues we were having with our big girl were leash pulling, jumping, rushing the front door when anyone came to the door and just not knowing how to rein in her big puppy energy. When she came back home after her two weeks of training, she was a more confident and relaxed girl. Justin is an awesome trainer and a dog whisperer. I could tell by the daily videos and photos he sent that she was very happy and relaxed with him while away from home. She no longer pulls while walking, will heel, sit and place and does not jump or rush the front door any more. We are so glad we found him and would highly recommend him. We can’t thank Justin enough - he is the best! A+ experience!
