Off Leash K9 Training of North Alabama

We took our 18 month old spoiled rotten German Shepherd to Lindsey at off leash k9 in Somerville for the 2 week board and train. Tater is 100+lbs and bouncy, pushy, bossy and loved to pull my 79 year old husband to the ground when taking him potty. We wanted Tater to be calm, listen, good recall, stop leash pulling, running off and jumping on people. After 2 weeks Lindsey handed over a brand new dog who was able to listen, sit, come, heel, place all off leash! We didn’t think it Was possible! We brought Tater Tot our 18 month old Spoiled Rotten Long Haired German Shepherd to be trained by Lyndsey Hill in Somerville Alabama. We chose the board and train 2 week program after visiting the property. The facilities are wonderful, air conditioned and and clean. Lindsey set our minds at ease about leaving Tater for the first time and I am so glad we did! My husband and I are in our 70's and simply could not handle our large 100 lbs dog. Tater would not come when called, jumped on everyone who visited, pulled the leash (we even had a prong collar on him) to the extent he would drag us. He would jump on us when we fed him and was a serious accident waiting to happen. The very first time we dropped off Tater, Lindsey had him at heel beside her! At the end of the two weeks we picked up a "new" dog. A dog we can now enjoy. A dog who can now go off leash to play without running off and pulling us down. This is the best decision we could have made. I now can still love on my big boy but he is a well mannered big boy! The video is my daughter walking Tater off leash.

Our Great Dane/Lab mix named Apollo just completed the 2-week boarding training. Before training, Apollo pretty much ran the show at home. He didn’t listen, had severe separation anxiety, and pulled me like a horse pulling a plow if we tried to put him on a leash. He’s a different dog now. He’s still a puppy, but he listens more intently now. He follows simple commands like sit, down, off, come, and heel. One of the biggest differences is his ability to stay in “place” for an extended period of time. Before, Apollo went everywhere I did. I couldn’t fold clothes, unload the dishes, or use the bathroom without him in my face. Now, I can say “place” and point to his raised bed. He will stay put for a full 45 minutes. He actually sometimes falls asleep. He is much more calm and peaceful. Before, he was full of anxiety if I even moved without him. He’s doing so much better on leash, too. He doesn’t pull and is trying so hard to stay in the heel position. I can actually take him places now. I would 100% recommend training with Lindsey at Off Leash. It was worth every penny.

We can’t say enough good things about Off Leash K9 Training! I actually waited to write this review to make sure the training really stuck once we got home and didn’t fall apart — and I’m so happy to say it absolutely held up. Lindsey and Todd were truly amazing with our dog Ralph. What we loved most was the way they used analogies and real-life examples to explain everything — they made it all so relevant to us, so we could actually see how our own actions and reactions were shaping Ralph’s behavior for the better. The heel command has been a total game-changer. We absolutely love walking Ralph now — he stays right by our left side, no pulling on the leash, just calm and focused. We can take him so many more places than we used to. At the walking track, he doesn’t get distracted by other dogs or people. It’s honestly hard to believe he’s the same dog. If you’re on the fence about training, do it. Lindsey and Todd are the real deal, and the difference in Ralph (and in us as his people!) has been incredible. Thank you both! 🐾
