Olympia Kennels

I’m writing this about 15 months after bringing home my puppy, Rainer (aka Rainy/Rai Rai/Babies/Bubbas/Playboy), from Olympia. He is hands down the best dog I have ever known. He knows more words at the age of one than either of my human children did combined. He can understand asks that have never been asked before. He loves everyone and has been a breeze to train. He’s a goofball, loves the snow and kids, but frisbee most of all. He cannot enter the public domain without collecting numerous compliments on his looks and demeanor. Just want to say thank you. I came for a pet/companion, but he is so much more than that. He brings joy and laughter into my house everyday.

ANIMAL ABUSE AND SHADY BUSINESS SEE YELP REVIEWS! Very Bad. Please avoid Olympia Kennels. We board trained our German Shepherd here back in 2020 due to COVID restrictions not allowing us to train in person. Well, since our dog spent a month with them, he’s never been the same. Their SKETCHY behavior has been bothering us for years and we need to say something. They didn’t let us see our dog for two weeks. Never sent a picture. Never sent an update. They sent one text saying “he’s doing great” but refused to send a video until he was “deeper into his training” He ran out of a months worth of food in two weeks after clear instructions. We went to drop some food off at 2 weeks and they didn’t let us see him because “it would interfere with his training and we wouldn’t want him to restart from the beginning” At two weeks we finally got to see a video of him and he seemed fine so we were slightly assured. When we picked him up after 1 month, his voice was INCREDIBLY hoarse and HE HAD SCABS ALL OVER HIS FACE AFTER A CLEAR DOG ATTACK. No one ever let us know what happened. We took him to the vet immediately after getting him and the vet said he may have been barking a lot and it happens. But, after doing a follow up training and seeing how they make the dog obedient by TUGGING THE DOG WITH A CHOKER UNTIL HIS FEET LEAVE THE GROUND, it was clearly due to ABUSIVE HANDLING. On top of all that, his fur was incredibly dull and dry. He had terrible skin after being fed cheap hot dogs the whole time without ever asking if that was okay for him to eat. They probably pocketed his expensive dog food and fed him bad food because he looked extremely unhealthy. The owner was “German Trained” in dog training and clearly brings that “dominate the animal” mentality into his training. The trainers also looked like literal convicts. It was actually very concerning that we gave our dog to them to take care of. $3000 later and he learned to sit and lay down. Oh wait, we already taught him that. When we brought him home, he was EXTREMELY AGGRESSIVE with our other dog and cats. Literally attacking our other dog which he’s never done before. He didn’t even want to play with us anymore, he came back like a hardened criminal who had been in prison for years. He would stare off in the distance not making eye contact or showing any love. It took us MONTHS to get him back to normal and when we finally did, we were so happy. Literally said “Oh my god! We have our baby back! He’s happy again and playing fetch again”. Seriously, much more reputable places to take your dogs. I would advise training with your dog, not board training. Especially not here.
