On The Spot Dog Training

I rescued a 10 month old AKA registered yellow lab from private party. I'm 70 yrs. old and never intended to get a dog so big or strong. For me it was love at first sight and I took him home. I do not know what kind of life Aspen had to this point, but it was clear that a divorced young girl with 2 young children living in an apartment and ready to move to Atlanta had her hands full. In any event, I fell in love instantly and after a few weeks we settled into a routine. Aspen had separation anxiety as well as he would bark at anyone,anything he saw. This made walking him a challenge to say the least. Aspen has a wonderful disposition when we are together alone and a ton of energy one would expect from a 10 month old puppy. I was concerned about him harming someone when we went on walks, including myself. I called several dog trainers and settled in Lisa from On The Spot. She seemed confident that she would be able to work with Aspen and would come to my home for the training. She was not intimidated by Aspen's demeanor and by the end of the first session he wanted to go home with her. Training is just as much about teaching the dog owner as it is about training the dog. In addition, she takes a positive attitude approach to her training methods and this calms me as well as Aspen. It has been some time since Aspen and I were in training, and I continue teaching him how to behave and not embarrass or hurt me. Lisa has play days and she invited current and previous customers to bring their dogs for on going followup sessions. I like this because it allows a safe and structured environment for Aspen to properly socialize with other dogs. Aspen has since enjoyed going to the Nixa Dog Park and I love seeing him interact and play with other dogs. Lisa is one of the most thoughtful, punctual, and effective professionals with whom I have ever worked. She and Lanie were able to train our out-of-control 1 year old maniac of a dog into a true "dream dog". Seriously... Andy was just about to break us. He was barking at us constantly for attention. He would dart out the door at the first opportunity and make us chase him around the neighborhood. He would jump on any guest that came into our home. He would swipe items from our closet and eat them. He refused to come back inside when called. Other than biting or being aggressive, he had just about every bad behavior a dog could have. After completion of the Dream Dog program, Andy is now the best little buddy a family could have. He still has his spirit and joy, but he is unbelievably disciplined. He comes immediately when called, no matter what he is doing. He will walk beside me (even off leash) in any setting. I can even take him to busy public places (like Lowes) and he will stay in a down position with people walking everywhere and not move until I release him. When guests arrive, he sits politely until told to greet them. He never runs out the door. He only barks when appropriate. Despite all this great obedience, he still has a great spirit and loves to play, fetch, run, wrestle, and do all the wonderful things that make dogs happy and fulfilled. Andy is truly a dream dog. Both Lisa and Lanie are always punctual with their visits. They are never late. They coordinate with your schedule when things go awry (i.e. sick kids, etc). She communicates very effectively. She meets with you once a week and "trains the owner" which is VERY helpful. I can say absolutely nothing but good things about Lisa and On the Spot Dog Training. I knew nothing about Lisa or her business before finding her on the internet. I searched countless web sites, videos, reviews, and personal references and just could not find anything I felt would get us to our goals. Once I met Lisa, I knew I'd hit the jackpot. Without reservation, I would recommend Lisa and Lanie for any family looking to take their dog to the next level.
