I was asking for advice and any class options for my dog who was 7yo at the time. She basically told me the dog is too old to be obedient and didn't offer me any classes. A little pushy with her COVID vaccine thoughts too.. and it takes a lot for me to say that because I am all for it.

About Paw & Hand Obedience
Small obedience school in north central Pennsylvania offering small group classes and private lessons at all levels of obedience. We offer pet/manners, puppy, basic, the entire AKC Canine Good Citizen series, and all levels of competition obedience, beginner novice through utility. The weekly schedule of 12 to 15 classes each week has both daytime and evening classes to suit more lifestyles. We teach you how to train your dog while focusing on building and maintaining your relationship with your dog. We consider ourselves balanced trainers, and our methods include lots of calming techniques, impulse control, motivational play, and treats. Good relationships include trust and cooperation, so we always try to build on those.

We offer both pet/basic/manners obedience and competition obedience, which includes rally. We teach the foundation exercises the same way to all of our students. Attention and focus is important in both training programs.
Specific short rally courses are randomly offered, usually on weekends. Rally skills are largely included in our competition obedience training. When you do competition obedience with us, in order to trial in rally, you just need to learn the rules and the signs!

Our pet/basic/manners classes are held to approximately 6 students per instructor. If we have 7 or more students in a class we have an assistant. Competition classes may have up to 8 or 10 students per 1 instructor, but these are generally more advanced classes with more experienced handlers.

My family has tried multiple dog trainers in the area in the past, and since getting my own puppy, I took a shot in the dark with someone new to get him trained well to be an amazing life companion. I’m so glad I took that shot. My puppy, Juneau, has come such a long way in such a short time! He is becoming such a well behaved little guy. Lana is so helpful, and the information she gives during training is very valuable when it comes to helping your pup retain the information and continue good behaviors. She’s positive, and very professional. She has even gone above and beyond training for us! When my pup was lethargic and not himself one evening at training after some vaccinations, she gave me some very helpful and insightful information for a first time puppy owner. She even asked me to keep her updated on his health via e-mail daily until the next session. She has a true compassion for animals, and it’s easy to see she puts her whole heart into what she does. I’ve never been to a trainer that is so caring for their students. I’d highly recommend Paw and Hand to anyone looking for training! Thanks for all your help and for all the love Paw and Hand has given to my Juneau!
Having struggled to find a trainer to work with me and my dog Zoey, the third time was the charm. I immediately felt that I have found the right trainer with Lana. We had a private lesson and she addressed all my concerns about training and set up a plan we will follow moving forward. Her experience and professionalism were obvious. Great place to bring your fur baby!!!
The very best place to get any dog started in dog sports. Kid friendly...my 9 year old daughter attends classes and has titled a few of our dogs in multiple sports.
Awesome traing. 7 years ago and our Corgi has retained all commands. I am a better person with Ollie so I was well trained to be a good mom. I love how Ollie walks with me tight with no commands. She was a crazy pup in the beginning!! Thanks much, Lana.
