About Penn Vet Working Dog Center
Inspired by the Search & Rescue Dogs that responded following the attacks on 9/11, the Penn Vet Working Dog Center opened on September 11, 2012 and serves as a national research and development center for detection dogs. With the United States national security under constant threat from attacks, detection dogs are still the best tool that we have to detect and mitigate potential threats. Search dogs are also critical for locating victims of natural and man-made disasters. The special scenting ability of dogs also allows them to serve in important ways such as cutting edge research to support global health or conservation detection.

How to give to the Working Dog center directly? Why did I get an email to support a new dog whose name is Casey only to find that he/she is on the "for sale" list? Has she washed out of the program? Dr. Eleanor Hillegeist

This facility is doing ground breaking research in detection work and dog training principles. The center was created to honor the dogs of 911.
It was so informative...loved seeing these dogs being trained for disasters they are so smart. It was great seeing how the trainers interact with the dogs. I couldn't do it they are so cute but I admire those on that field
