Penny's Pets PdR

I cannot say enough positive things about Petra and Penny’s Pets. I rescued my girl with the knowledge that she had boundless energy and limited socialization, and was subsequently worried that she would forever be overly excitable and defiant. However, since working with Petra, my Pippa has consistently become a better listener, a more competent walker, and an overall more “polite” member of society. On top of this, she is overjoyed every time Petra arrives to pick her up. Petra is knowledgeable, accredited, and an absolute life saver. I feel very lucky that Pippa and I found her.

I’d give Petra 6 stars if I could.. Petra helped train and socialize our rescued standard poodle, Otis - and now takes him on group outings several times per week. When we first brought Otis home he was 10 months old - we don’t know his background but suspect he’d been neglected as he barely knew how to walk on a leash and was terrified of absolutely everything. Petra first did a series of training sessions with him and then started socializing him with other dogs and in public settings. He became well-adjusted to his new life within a few months and absolutely loves Petra and the gang of dogs that goes on her outings. Her outings are basically half-day sessions and she takes the dogs all over the west side - from the beach in PDR to the Santa Monica foothills and beyond. Otis comes home every day a happy, tired boy. Petra is incredibly caring, trustworthy and reliable - I really can’t image what we’d do without her in our lives.

Petra has helped us so much to understand what our 4 year old 60 pound male Eurasier Beckett is thinking. During the COVID lockdowns he became increasingly aggressive at guarding our house, and us during walks. He was barking and lunging at other dogs, and going nuts over the mailman and delivery drivers. She quickly saw what the issue was ( it was me) and gave me concrete, simple training steps that led to major improvement immediately. She also gave us training exercises to help with his guarding behavior during a month long trip that defused a tense time between Beckett and another dog in our sons family. She also takes Beckett once a week on a group hike that he just loves, and it is a great socialization time for him. We recommend her 100% and are grateful we found her.
