Petco Dog Training

We went for a dog training class. They made my dog and I stand outside the gate for over 30 minutes for this hour class. The instructor never tried to introduce my dog in with the group. It’s was just a glorified play pin cramming 10 dogs into it and letting them Wrestle. I’d rather let my dog play at a park or at home. There was no instructions or learning from the instructor. We will never be doing another class here again. I own a pet sitting business and I will never suggest this class to any of my clients.

Trainer does not use positive reinforcement dog training techniques. They instead use intimidation and resort to shock collars when untrained dogs don't respond well. I witnessed dogs actually become worse every week because they became scared of their handlers and were never taught properly how do even do the basic sit or down. My dog was the best out of the class because I use positive reinforcement training at home to practice obedience so the trainer left us alone for the most part....which I don't understand because it was a group training class so we basically learned nothing. I literally trained my own dog at home better. Overall waste of a class and I wish I had not signed up. I feel sad for the dogs that have to go through that kind of treatment. Petco banned shock collars in 2020 so I have no idea why a Petco trainer would be using them.

I signed up online for a puppy training class. When I arrived, the first class there was no instructor. Class canceled that day and they apologized. One hour before second class I received a call that the store got a truck in and they needed to unload it so they couldn't have class. I asked for a refund. They could not do that over the phone (even tho I signed up and paid online). I went in the next day and they refunded my money.
