I am deeply disappointed by my experience with this adoption process. After losing my first cat to cancer, I took my time to heal carefully considering the responsibility of adopting another, and I was excited to provide a loving home once again. I came in and met a few cats, and fell in love with Oliver and his menace status! When I tell you this adorable cat is a whirlwind of chaos and charm! With a personality as bold as his playful antics, I witnessed him knocking things off the counter, pouncing on unsuspecting feet, and even try to run out as I stepped in, but as an experienced owner of a runner cat, I knew how to handle him. Despite his mischief I knew he was the cat for me. I quickly asked to fill out the adoption paperwork, and later that evening received notice that it was a perfect fit and I could come in the next day to finalize! However, I was unexpectedly denied once I was ready to finalize the adoption. The explanation.. I live on a main road and denied a home visit, which I clarified was due to our guard dog, who is great with other animals, but is overly protective when presented with a stranger in the home. This left me feeling frustrated and disheartened. The process lacked transparency and communication, which made me feel as though my efforts were unappreciated. Adopting a pet should be about finding the right match, but instead, this experience was unnecessarily sad and discouraging. I understand policies may need to be followed, but the end result of the situation was far from understandable. I can only dream of the perfect balance of menace and fun, keeping life unpredictable and always entertaining would have been with him in my life.
