Phil's Pup Camp

We've gained a lot from our group training sessions with Phil, and our dog is receptive to what we’ve learned. Our pup recognizes commands and is now a pleasure to walk on the leash. We will continue to work with Phil as our dog works through the puppy stages. We highly recommend Phil, he is patient, explains things thoroughly and even relates things back to how the dog receives the commands or actions. I think both group settings and one on one is valuable.

Our Vet recommended Phil's Pup Camp to us. We waited about 6 months to sign up our dog, as he is a rescue that wasn't well socialized as a puppy, and showed reactivity to dogs when on a leash. Throughout the classes our dog went from being reactive to ALL dogs in the class to only being reactive to 1 or 2 dogs. We were SO happy with the progress he made across the 8 weeks. Our dog's recall improved immensely and he graduated with a Canine Good Citizen title. The reason for the 3 stars is due to an event that occurred in the last class that was a dangerous situation for our dog and another dog in the class, that he was reactive towards. During the last class Phil also used the word "racist" to describe our dogs behavior towards the other dog which personally did not sit well with me. Overall I would recommend Phil's Pup Camp to the typical suburban dog that does not show reactivity, however if your dog is reactive on leash this may not be the best fit for you.

This is our third dog. We have trained with different trainers over the years. Our neighbor raved about the experience his dog had working with Phil. Knowing how well that dog behaves, we signed our four month old puppy for classes. Phil is excellent. He is patient and knowledgeable. Phil provided a safe, positive environment for the puppies to learn. He instructed and reinforced the various desired behaviors. The practical approach can easily be transferred to other settings. I also appreciated that he encourages questions. We look forward to taking the next class in the series.
