Presentable K-9

We recently adopted a dog that was somewhat food aggressive, did not often listen, and pulled terribly on walks. With just a handful of sessions, Andrea has completely changed our pup and educated us on what we need to do throughout our day as well. We are incredibly happy with the progress we have seen and would recommend Presentable K-9 10 times over. She was flexible with scheduling, accommodating to our needs, and very easy to get along with. We loved having her in our home and while we are happy to have graduated from puppy training, we will miss her!

Andrea is an amazing trainer and a fantastic person to work with. Over the course of a few months, we took private lessons with Andrea to try and help our black lab mix, Lacey, overcome her anxieties when meeting new people. Andrea helped teach us valuable techniques to help Lacey become more and more comfortable around people and how to teach our friends and other people how to better interact with Lacey to help her establish a good “association” with people. We even had a “Lacey” party towards the end of our training with 10+ people (including some kids and a baby). Lacey has improved tremendously and we feel (as her puppy parents) empowered with the techniques Andrea taught us.

We rescued our Irish terrier mix Bentley in February and he was a bit of a handful ... barking at other dogs, pulling on walks, jumping and nipping at us and guests, barking when he didn't get what he wanted, running all around the house. We weren't quite sure what to do, and a few things we had tried weren't working. After 4 private lessons with Andrea I am happy to say he's doing so much better. At our consultation we explained to Andrea all our issues with him (and there were a lot!) and she translated those into a program that has completely transformed him into a good boy that knows what's expected of him. The lessons weren't just informative but a lot of fun too. And she was always willing to answer all our crazy questions as well. Andrea is great at what she does!

We first heard of Presentable K9 while walking through the Farmer's Market in Bolingbrook. It couldn't have come at a better time. My husband and I have a 2 year old Boarder Collie, who was aggressive towards my husband. In the past few month the aggression had gotten worse and it was causing some serious strain in our marriage. I had been looking for a trainer, but due to his aggressive nature I was very nervous on who to choose. After speaking with Andrea, we set up a consultation the following week. I liked that she was willing to meet you, the dog and get a sense of the environment before even talking about training recommendations. A few other places wanted payment before even talking to you. She came in and we talked for hours. She met Dodger our dog and gave us her recommendation for 5 training sessions. Dodger was very nervous around her at first and she handled him like a pro. After the first meeting I was excited to see more. For our first Lesson she came out and helped us walk with him. It was amazing to see the transformation. She had already shown us her training tools and made sure we were comfortable with the slip leash and the treat training. She worked with us, showing us how to reward and correct. Our dog was a very strange case since his aggression would spark for the work NO. She helped us use alternatives and lots of positive reinforcement to counter condition his negative responses. She also helped us make smart choices in the home (no more dog on the couch) to avoid aggression and to create a firm but loving environment. She worked with my husband to help him better respond to Dodger and to build up their relationship. I will be honest here, she expects you to work too. She writes out lesson plans and gives you homework. It was a change on both Dodger's and our parts to build a better home environment. Myself being a dog lover and having grown up with dogs, I was shocked on how much I learned. We did a total of 5 private lessons and I must say the difference is astounding. We are a much happier family. What was most amazing is the time and care she took with us. Often times texting us in between sessions to check in, staying late to make sure we were comfortable, talking with us and making sure our questions and concerns were addressed. You can tell this is her passion and her love for it shines through as she works with you and your dog. I would recommended her to anyone needing help training their dog. She is an absolute gem and a pleasure to work with.
