I could rave about Tammy and her expertise forever. My husband and I have a 5 month old Pembroke corgi (Norman) that is bold and smart. Tammy’s knowledge of this specific breed as well as working dogs in general has made a significant difference in our training experience. She had a well rounded approach to training that focuses on interpreting the dogs feelings and instincts in certain moments, refocusing their energy, making sure you as the owner are not inadvertently adding to the behavior, and cueing/rewarding the dog immediately and frequently to encourage the training. She sees things my husband and I would never in a million pick up on with Norman and always has suggestions to change the non-preferred behavior. Norman’s progress has been amazing and we are excited to continue training with Tammy for her next set of sessions!

I cannot possibly say enough wonderful things about Primitive Dog and the care they provide for your canine family members. I have a reactive shepherd mix who I rescued with noise trauma and reactivity issues. I worked with her for several years by myself and educating myself and things were going fine and I saw lots of improvement. But cue covid and the appearance of some other health issues in her made her reactivity and noise trauma much worse and I found that I could not manage my dog’s needs and health concerns in a productive way for her and my family. I felt like I could not bridge the communication gap between my dog and me. After doing lots of research for dog trainers and rehabilators in the area I found Tammy and Primitive. From the beginning she took the time to understand the situation, my struggles with my dog, and my dog’s health concerns and special needs. After our consultations I knew that Tammy and Lexi were perfect. From our first conversation they have shown such care and concern for my dog and her special health needs. I have absolutely no hesitation boarding Lily with them and know that she will be loved and cared for like she is apart of their family every time I drop her off. Tammy’s knowledge and passion for dogs and their training needs is evident in every conversation we have. I appreciate that she is always willing to help and answers questions about a variety of topics and offers tips and tricks with a holistic approach. As anyone with a special needs dog knows, every day is a different adventure and progress is not linear, but I can confidently say that my dog has made leaps and bounds in her behaviors since our family started working with Tammy and Lexi. They have given us some peace back into our lives. I have recommended her to several dog owners already and I will continue to sing the praises of these wonderful people and their dedication to helping make dogs happier and healthier.
