Proper Pup

My husband and I got our Rottie pup, Ghost, at the end of April when he was 8 weeks old. I messaged Shilo prior to getting him because I knew he’d be a lot of work. From the beginning, she has been nothing but helpful with every question and concern I’ve brought up to her. Ghost was a clothing thief (mainly socks), wanted to assert his dominance, especially on our submissive male dog, and needed general obedience training. He would also whine excessively (gotta love that Rottie-ness!) When I tell you we have a completely different dog I mean omg I wish you could see the before and after. Shilo informed us that we’d have to stay on top of him (again, gotta love the Rottie-ness!) but he responds to commands without being prompted by his e-collar and we’ve only had him home for 2 weeks!!! We bought the ultimate package which I HIGHLY recommend. We used 2 of our day care days prior to Ghost’s stay so he could get acclimated to the environment. Shilo even worked with Ghost during these daycare days! She also offers weekend go homes during the first and second week your pup stays with her because she knows how much people miss their dogs. She will send you picture and/or video updates to show you how your pup is doing. I know some day care places charge for those kinds of things but Shilo does it out of the kindness of her heart. The fact that she trains out of her home is amazing. I’m convinced the home environment and Shilo were the perfect combination as to why Ghost’s training was as successful as it was. Ghost was surrounded by the typical day-to-day distractions in Shilo’s home which, again, I feel made his training so successful. When I’ve replayed videos that Shilo has sent me Ghost will respond to her voice in the videos! He also practically jumps out of the car any time we’ve gone to Shilo’s. Shilo treats your dog as her own (seriously, lots of affection and being spoiled!) She’ll also be nothing but honest with you. Not only did she train Ghost but she also has taught my husband and I SO much! She’s fairly priced and, in my opinion, better priced than most dog trainers, especially ones that train out of facilities. If you’re questioning whether or not Proper Pup is where your dog should be trained this is your sign that you NEED to send your pup here.

Shilo helped restore some calm to our household that was made chaotic by our 1.5 year old mutt. Cocoa was given up by her first family who couldn't control her, and even though we've had dogs in the past we've never had one as stubborn as Cocoa. After hearing horror stories from coworkers and family members who used OTHER trainers and dropped off an unruly dog for a board & train and got back a fearful and traumatized dog a few weeks later, we had a list of places NOT to go - and we couldn't be happier with the results we got from the 3 week board & train at Proper Pup. All our expectations have been exceeded, and everyone in the household (even Cocoa) is happier now that she's got manners and listens to commands. THANK YOU SHILO!

We sent Daisy, our 6 month old bernedoodle, to the three week board and train. It was hard leaving her for three weeks but Shilo kept me informed with pictures and videos of Daisy the whole. She did a great job training her on come, sit, down, threshold manners, place and leash training. The biggest challenge for Shilo was probably training Daisy’s human parents 🤣. It is so nice to have a puppy that listens. She came back home a changed puppy. I would definitely recommend sending any new puppy or adult dog to her board and train. She has given me the groundwork to try to work with my other dogs!! Thank you Shilo and Proper Pup Dog training for all you do to help us stay accountable!!

If we could give 10 stars we would! We took our 5 (almost 6) month old puppy to Proper Pup for a 3-week Board and Train. There are no words to adequately express our gratitude to Shilo! Our Oliver arrived needing help with leash manners, coming when called, stay, threshold manners and mealtime manners. WOW!! He improved so much! Shilo not only trained our puppy but also us as pet parents. Reinforcing what Oliver learned is critical to his success and we were properly informed and shown what and how to correctly reinforce what he has learned. The picture attached is Oliver practicing place at home. If having a well-mannered fur baby is important, Proper Pup is THE place to make it happen!

Shilo cared for our beagle Doc when he was found outside and injured in November, 2016. He was only a pup then and he can be very nervous in stormy weather and strange surroundings. Shilo has always had a fondness for Doc and knows just how to make him feel comfortable and secure even in a house or yard full of new dogs and a cat. We feel very secure in knowing that Doc is not only well cared for but enjoying his time at Proper Pup. Shilo’s location in Miamitown allows for a large outside play area and indoor space so that Doc doesn’t spend unnecessary time in a crate or cage during the day and can interact with the other dogs. We have noticed that while he was never aggressive he is even more friendly and comfortable around other dogs since he has visited Proper Pup. Shilo also communicates well with her human customers. I appreciate her clear instructions, convenient pickup and drop off times and updates while caring for our Doc.
