After waiting a long time for the stars to align, our family was lucky enough to be able to rescue a 1-year old English bulldog this past summer. David at Proper Pups helped not only facilitate the adoption of Fiona, but he also provided training via a 2-week board and train. We could not be more pleased. David spent time with Fiona teaching her general obedience and etiquette. (We did not have even have to pay extra for the proper British etiquette!) We were so happy to welcome Fiona, and David taught us the skills necessary for a successful transition into our home. As part of the hand-off process, David provided details on Fiona's schedule, behavioral issues to watch for (Miss Fiona likes to try and play "dumb" to try to get away with not listening.), as well as detailed descriptions of the commands that Fiona had learned and how to best execute them with her. David made sure to take time with our entire household, including our 8 and 10-year old children, to teach us how to properly walk her. Since Fiona moved in, we have been back for a quick refresher as we were also in need of boarding. David was patient, answering and walking us through our new questions. Fiona was very happy to see David, and responded to him immediately. Our experience with David and Proper Pup has been nothing less than exceptional. Communication with David has always been direct and clear, and he just has a way with dogs. They love and respect him as much as he does them! It has been an absolute pleasure working with David at Proper Pups. My housemates and I were in a complex situation. We needed an expert who could enable two dogs who had never met to get along, coexist, and live together safely. The difficulty was compounded by a substantial size difference (one dog 16 lbs) vs. (the other is around 65 lbs), with the heavier one being a young pup, skittish, and still learning how to meet other dogs. From the very first phone call, I was impressed by David's professionalism, attentiveness to details, and genuine desire and passion to help us with this situation. He provided a very thorough background template to gather all the vital details. We then did a pre-introduction house visit to assess the space, strategically plan the meeting, and identify any potential triggers. Once the important day arrived, David performed a masterclass with the dogs as well as with the owners. We were all very happy with his work and felt very relieved afterward. We couldn’t be happier with Proper Pups! Our 4-month-old puppy, Maisy, has been training with David for five weeks, and the results are amazing.
