As the owner of Pup 'N Iron Canine Fitness & Learning Center, it's very disheartening, to say the least, to read this from a client who brought their dog to our Day School Academy for SIX MONTHS straight, without fail, and during all that time never contacted myself or notified any member of my staff of any dissatisfaction with our services, facility or care their dog Banksy was receiving. Firstly, our facility is not just a "warehouse with nothing but a cement floor and metal fences." Our floor is covered with wall to wall, 3/4" rubber matting, among the best surfaces available for dogs to run, jump and play on. We do have (3) chain link fences in front of our 3 bay doors, not for "aesthetics," but so the dogs are safe and secure while the doors are open and they have the opportunity to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine as much as possible. Here is a more accurate depiction of our facility (https://pupniron.com/facility) Yes, dogs enrolled in our day programs do receive brief rest and recovery periods in their crates, which is all a part of the training process, as clearly outlined in our contract and policies, signed and agreed upon. But I am particularly concerned about the assertion that Banksy "reeked of urine and/or industrial cleaner." Again, it is hard to comprehend why anyone would continue bringing their dog for SIX MONTHS straight, never once mentioning any word of this, if this were the case. Additionally, we do not use "industrial cleaner," but rather use an environmentally and pet-safe cleaner that disinfects, deodorizes and eliminates the risk of passing of bacteria, viruses and infection. Again, I feel it is only reasonable to expect that any customer having the above mentioned concerns would address it with us directly and immediately, as opposed to continuing to bring their dog for SIX MONTHS, especially when during that time they've had constant contact with members of our staff during drop-offs, pick ups and weekly email communications (which we have documented). But not a word about any of it, until now. Enrollment in our Day School is month to month, and yes, each month you pre-pay for your set reservations (as is all outlined in detail in our contract, which all clients sign and agree to). We do this to 1) keep the ratio of dogs to staff at a reasonable rate, and 2) to allow new dogs on our waiting list to enroll if a dog is not continuing. It is neither fair or relevant to compare fees for services provided to children and pets, as it also costs much more to have a dog professionally groomed than it does to get a human hair cut. It's apples and oranges. However our fees are very reasonable, fair and right in line with the current standard of full day, professional training and fitness services for dogs. Saying that "people with skill in training animals so often lack it with humans," is a pretty negative and unfair generalization of people in the pet care industry in general, and unfortunately, perhaps this personal bias tainted the interactions with our staff as well. We really enjoyed having Banksy attend these past SIX MONTHS and enjoyed watching him grow from a precious wee pup to an adolescent young dog. It is very unfortunate that apparently you were unhappy with the services you were receiving all that time. Half a year is a long time to be dissatisfied and yet continue to patronize a business. I am very sorry you never communicated any of this to us so that we could have had the opportunity to address your concerns and come to a much more amicable resolution.
