  • Commands
    Program details

I like to start with 21 commands and will add on more as we go through the training. We will cover different obedience, behavioral, social, domestication, and safety commands. All command words can be changed and adjusted for each dog. Your dog will learn different commands for each environment he is in. He will need to know what is expected of him at all times, so there isn’t any miscommunication. He will have different and additional commands at the park, veterinarian, riding in the car, Petco, Petsmart, when company comes to the door, greeting a strange dog, etc. We will take it one command at a time until your dog understands what you want him to do in various situations and locations.

  • Dog Parties
    Program details

Dog Parties are an amazing way for me to socialize your dog as well as keep in touch with you during, and after our initial training. The dog parties help me teach the dogs how to play nicely with each other as well as with the adults and kids that are there. I only allow dogs I have trained to attend the dog parties. This way we can ensure that all the dogs attending will listen and behave with one another. Most people keep in touch with me through the dog parties. This way you can ask questions, keep your dog socialized throughout his life, not to mention give him a workout playing with all the pups.

    Program details

We will start by scheduling two times a week for me to meet with you at your home or other place of choice to begin training. We begin with three weeks for on-leash training and six weeks for on and off leash training. The first lesson will last 2 hours, some longer depending on the severity of the problems. The lessons thereafter will last approximately an hour. Each time I come out I will begin teaching your dog the new commands as well as the hand signals. You are watching and listening during this time so that you understand the training methods. Once I see that he/she is catching on I will begin working with you (with your dog) to make sure he/she will listen to you. I will continue to help until you feel comfortable with the new commands. Each week you and your dog will learn more commands. We will cover the obedience commands with our voice and hand signals, as well as without our voice.

Kim at Quality Canines comes with our strongest recommendation. Within a few training sessions, Kim was able to restore our hope for harmonious living with our highly spirited, energetic, strong willed, and incredibly smart, Aussiedoodle, River. Kim quickly identified the cues River was giving to us in different situations with moving vehicles, dogs, and joggers and was able to show us how to make the necessary corrections. After two sessions, Kim made us believe a well-trained River was possible; something we were all initially skeptical about. After twelve sessions, River's behavior was greatly improved. Kim educated our family in understanding canine hierarchy, instincts, and learned behaviors as well as teaching us techniques to be successful in continuing our training with River. Having Kim come to our house, train inside, in our yard, in the neighborhood and local park was well worth her fees and then some. We are all more confident in working with River and her behavior has improved dramatically. We can't thank Kim enough and give her our strongest recommendations. The Grubich Family

Our new puppy Batman was unruly and challenging. A couple of people recommended Kim to us and raved about her. Sure enough, she has been a wonderful trainer to Batman and us, and we've all learned so much from her expertise! We highly recommend her for any type of training -- our dog loves her (and so do we!)

Kim did an amazing job of helping me understand how my behavior was affecting my dog’s behavior. She treated my dog and me with kindness and patience as she taught us how to correct both of our bad habits!! While I loved our 1:1 sessions, I really appreciate the ongoing puppy parties so that we can keep practicing in a safe place. Even though our formal training has ended I know that Kim is always there if we need her!! Thanks Kim!!

After calling around to a few "trainers" in the area and my inquiries were being ignored, I asked a family member for a recommendation and she gave me Kim's info. That day I contacted Kim and she responded in less than 12 hours. In my email I explained that we recently foster failed (adopted) a new pup and I wanted some help with establishing good behaviors since we have little kids. Callie was also having resource guarding issues with our older dog and Kim guided us on how to nip that in the bud. Kim not only helped Callie but she helped me and that was so invaluable. The passion and knowledge that she has for dogs was so reassuring. I know my family and I made the right decision with selecting Kim as our dog's trainer. She gave us all the tools and resources we need to help Callie be the best girl she can be. Kim is always available to give the best suggestion and recommendation to any of my questions/concerns. You know her training works when you get compliments on how well your dog is out in public. Kim is the best and I absolutely recommend her. Don't think twice, work with Kim!

We have an 8-year-old dog who we adopted from a shelter. We brought her to Kim to help with socialization and general training. Kim takes a personalized, thoughtful approach to training that’s steeped in positive reinforcement. She helped us understand Gracie’s behaviors as well as how our own behaviors affect her. Our curriculum included training in our home, at area parks and field trips to local establishments. Kim also offers ongoing dog parties and group training sessions. Kim is an absolute joy to work with and our experience has been amazing! Gracie continues to build confidence and is making great strides with socialization. I highly recommend Kim for any dog training needs.
