Rascal Training & Boarding

Rascal Training has been incredible for me and my dog Lenny. I have owned dogs and tried classes and online training before, but I never had real guidance for myself or my dog. Because of that I often had to decide whether to bring my dog with me or leave them at home. Now we have more options and far less stress when we go out together. After Lenny spent four weeks in board and train with Zoe, he came home with a solid foundation. His recall and leash manners are greatly improved, he is more confident and focused, and he seems happier knowing what is being asked of him. Training does not stop here, but now we have a structure to build on which makes life with him even more enjoyable. I used to feel anxious at dog parks and embarrassed on walks because I did not know how to guide or redirect my dog. Not every dog will be a dog park dog even with training, and I choose environments more thoughtfully, but Rascal Training gave me the tools to make better decisions and to set Lenny up for success wherever we go. If you are unsure where to start or do not have time to train on your own, I highly recommend Rascal Training. It was absolutely worth it and has changed the way I experience everyday life with my dog. Zoe and her incredible Rascal staff are truly the best dog trainers out there. She has cared for my two boxer dogs with so much patience, knowledge, and genuine love. Zoe and her team at Rascal Training were amazing. I was referred to their program by a friend and neighbor who raved about their services. We brought our 9 month old puppy to Rascal to help address some off-leash issues we were having. Her use of training videos, clear key words and other methods are so helpful and provided us with the right tools for us to continue with the progress he made at their three week board and train session.

Aunt Zoe is Ms Ryders' favorite non parent human. She truly understands dog psychology. Ryder is a stuborn, smart, incredibily strong pit bull. But she's putty in Zoes hands. We took Ryder to Astoria Sunday Market & got dozens of compliments about her being so well behaved. 🥰 Ryder loves people and wants to lick them all, especally the ones down at her height (kids). That and her being a 'satanic dog' (pit bull) makes her scary to most parents. But we had several familys with tiny humans ask to pet her because she waa so pretty and well behaved. To the proud parents of a high strung 24 month old pit bull, that's high praise. We know full well that Zoe deserves the praise, but hey, she waan't there, so... "Thank you, it's been a lot of work." 🤭 TBH, we did tell Zoe about it & gave her credit in person. But yeah, if you ever meet the most well behaved & prettiest Pittie in person, compliment her parents in person & Zoe under your breath. 😉

Rascal Training has been a life-changing resource for me and my dog! After several underwhelming experiences with the typical $350, 6-week group training classes, I decided to find something more intensive and holistic for my reactive dog, Jolene. Zoe and her team have a true gift for this work. They are smart, compassionate, communicative, and always respectful toward me, my dog, and my family. Jolene started with a 3-week board-and-train, and now we jump at the chance to book Field Days whenever there’s an opening. The e-collar training has been a game-changer, giving us the freedom to enjoy more safe, off-leash adventures! Her overall confidence (and mine as her handler) has grown tremendously since we began working with Rascal. I take her everywhere with me now — my job, coffee shops, friend's houses, BBQs, camping, my partner's recording studio, road trips, Airbnbs (peep the photo, lol) — something I genuinely used to think wouldn't be possible for us. I don’t trust just anyone with my dog, but I’ve never felt uneasy leaving her in their care. I often "joke" that if Rascal ever moved to another town (or state!), I’d probably move too just to keep working with them. That’s how much of a difference they’ve made in our lives. The investment is absolutely worth it — my bond with Jolene is stronger than ever, and I wish the same for every dog owner.
