Rattlesnake Ready

This review isn't for Rattlesnake Ready, the dog training service but rather Rattlesnake Ranch, the onsite zoo. Although it's fair to point out that the entire time I was visiting the zoo, the owner, Cody was constantly busy with dog training customers. This place is absolutely incredible. Whether you're a snake enthusiast, someone who is just curious, or even someone who wants a better more grounded understanding of rattlesnakes, you absolutely need to visit and take a tour. The snakes are not only beautiful and diverse but also very well taken care of. I spent a few hours admiring all of the snakes that were on display and Cody was awesome enough to swing by whenever he had a second to show me around and even open up a few of the cages. I could have easily spent another couple of hours just chatting to him and asking questions about his incredible collection. And don't just think that it's limited to local varieties only. He has an ever growing collection including specimens that span the entire continent and even some from South America and Asia. I can't wait to visit again and see what else he's acquired! He's not only created a business to help protect dogs (who are especially susceptible to rattlesnake bites) but also this vastly misunderstood species. With this zoo, he's created a place for understanding and also furthering research by working with local universities who come in to study what he has on hand. Rattlesnakes and snakes in general are extremely important to our ecosystem. And I'd argue that businesses as honest and genuine as Cody's are equally important. And what they charge for admission is quite possibly the best deal I've ever seen.
