Rescue Dogs Training

I took my pit bull to Rescue dog training and he is doing very well! They had him for a little over a month. When I first rescued him, he was very aggressive towards people and other animals, and I struggled to approach him in His kennel. I tried everything to keep him with us, I thought there was no hope for him. Now he has improved so much. I can make eye contact with him without him growling at me. I can approach his kennel take him out even pet him in there now. He listens to commands very well.I can now take him on walks without him getting aggressive and I don't have to worry, before it was only at night when nobody was out. He doesn't react to other dogs barking at him on our walks that makes me very happy. Thank you so much Megan & Robert .

Megan was wonderful with our new girl Daisy. She is a super sweet 4 year old rescue dog with no prior training who doesn’t appear to have ever lived with people. We were struggling with teaching her commands, separation anxiety, and chasing our cat. After two weeks of boarding and training, Daisy is well on her way to being the best behaved girl. She has learned some commands, practiced spending time with a cat in a calm manner, and is much less anxious when we leave. We have a good path forward to continue her progress as well. The only slight negative was a miscommunication around pricing for additional weeks of boarding. Initially we were promised that if Daisy needed an additional week of training that would be included at no additional cost. Because of higher than expected need, Megan was unable to accommodate that extra week. Ultimately Daisy came home after 2 weeks as planned, and we are incredibly happy with her progress. Though this change of plan was disappointing, we would still pick Megan again given how well she worked with Daisy.

Megan has worked with our rescue dog for several months while training us, as her caregivers. Megan is knowledgeable, informative, responsive, communicative, kind and consistent. She answers all questions while providing background on why. It’s important to follow the training steps as Megan recommends. Our dog has progressed but still has more to learn. It’s not the dog’s fault. It’s not Megan’s fault. It’s our fault because we’re not consistent.

Megan’s advice for bringing my dog home, who I adopted from the animal shelter and had already had a challenging and lonely life, was to crate him for three days and three nights with no contact: no talking, petting, eye contact, etc., taking him out only for walks and potty breaks. I did crate him for most of days two through three, but I never denied him affection. Dogs need to learn from positive reinforcement, not punishment, banishment, and neglect.
