About Rhodes K9 Academy

We provide high quality dog training focused on building reliable obedience and clear communication between dogs and their owners. Serving Central Alabama, our programs are designed to educate owners while delivering real-world results. Using balance training approach, we work with dogs of all levels to improve behavior, strengthen obedience, and create lasting structure both at home and in public settings. We also offer stay-and-train programs that help accelerate progress and build a solid foundation for long term success. Our goal is not just to train dogs, but to equip owners with the knowledge and tools needed to maintain that training for life.

    This course covers and builds on the basic obedience skills, while practicing under real world distraction. My 6 month old Labrador (Bella) had the basics of how to sit and behave indoors, but I couldn't teach her to walk on a leash by myself. I want NO pulling and I didn't know how to achieve that. I also wanted her to learn how to be a visiting dog for nursing homes and schools. Nicholas gave us 4 1-hour lessons, spread out over and inside MY schedule, and in that time, Bella achieved perfection on the leash! I am still working with Rhodes K9 to complete her training but this review is to encourage anyone who wants a great dog trainer to try Nicholas at Rhodes K9 Academy. I am so thankful I found him! In the photos attached you can see her walking loose and happy and she's a joy to take places in the car as well.

It’s been about four weeks since Nick started working with me and my dog, Cash, on controlling his barking, improving his basic commands, and helping us build better communication. We are definitely seeing progress, and Cash is responding much better than before. One thing I’ve learned is that dog training isn’t just about training the dog—it’s about training the owner too. Nick does a great job explaining what you need to do between sessions to help your dog succeed. Rhodes K9 Academy was able to help me to stop my dog from jumping on people when she greets them in Calera. She is only 4 pounds, but I wanted her to have manners and now we are on our way. Highly recommend as the best dog trainer in Calera.
