Where to begin! I came to Ridgeside via Google search seeking professional support in training our 6-month old cattle dog-poodle mix rescue, Layla. Layla was shy, anxious and unable to settle well given her history as a stray. She *had* moderate dog reactivity and didn’t know how to process new environments and going about daily life outside the home. She had very little confidence overall, making it hard to move past basic commands. As new rescue owners, we wanted to set her and us up for success Luckily, we were matched with trainer Maddie and couldn’t be more grateful and amazed by the results. I was nervous about sending Layla away for the 4-week board and train, but the Ridgeside staff provided above and beyond support as we navigated the progress to enrolling her and answering questions about how Layla will be trained on an e-collar as a communication tool. Luckily, Maddie accepts board and trains on-site at her ranch near Sacramento, where we live. It was a win-win. Maddie is an absolute pro and gave us the best experience possible. Layla came home as Layla 2.0. We take her everywhere with us now — breweries, community garden, long car rides, camping, you name it. Our goal was to get Layla started on e-collar as a way to better communicate with her, especially for recall. Our aim is to have her off leash mountain biking and skiing, and we see a real path to that now! Since Ridgeside, her confidence bloomed with Maddie and Layla is able to handle life much more smoothly. I really appreciated Maddie’s commitment to direct, warm, and professional communication the entire time — with dozens of photos and videos sent each week on top of it all. Don’t think twice about Ridgeside!
