Ruff Pup Dog Training, Grooming and Retail

My 10-year-old daughter became distressed and started crying after seeing my dog with a restraint around his snout while he was barking at the trainer. Instead of handling the situation with empathy, the trainer chose to speak directly to her rather than to me, her father. He told her that if we left and the dog ever attacked someone, our dog would end up being killed. Saying something like that to a child who was already crying was completely insensitive and irresponsible. When I explained that my daughter struggles with anxiety and depression and that we needed to leave, he showed no empathy or respect for our decision. Instead, he raised his voice in a very arrogant and intimidating manner, pressured us to stay, and tried to scare us by saying that other trainers would charge us thousands of dollars. This was one of the worst experiences I have had in my entire life. I would never return to this place and I do not recommend it at all. What I experienced was a combination of unprofessional behavior, poor judgment, and a shocking lack of compassion toward a child who was clearly experiencing an emotional crisis right in front of him. Update 4 weeks after reading the dog trainer's response: Hey dog ​​trainer—how easy it is for you to play the victim. You’re lying. When my daughter started having a crisis, I clearly told you I had to leave. Instead of letting me go, your bright idea was to push your services on me at all costs—even shouting while my dog ​​was barking and my daughter was crying. That was the perfect moment for you to quote your price? You told me other places would charge more, that you were the best option, and that my dog ​​would kill someone unless I left him with the "great trainer"—meaning you. You were a complete opportunist You exploited the situation to try to make a sale; you are a disgusting person. You didn't have an ounce of compassion for my daughter's distress. I had my dog ​​on a leash and kept a safe distance from you the whole time; I’m sure you’ve dealt with plenty of dogs that bark at you. Folks. He attempted to pressure me into purchasing his services while my daughter was experiencing a mental health crisis , this man only cares about profit—be careful. If you had shown even a shred of humanity and let me leave before my daughter’s crisis escalated—instead of insisting and shouting so much—you might be a better person and professional. But you absolutely aren't. My daughter paid the price this time; she kept crying after we left your business, and the damage is done. You are incompetent, inhumane, and greedy. If I could give you negative five stars, I would.

I love this place! Andrew was wonderful at communicating all the progress his team have made with my dog in his training. They were all to happy to teach me some techniques that I could use while at home to maintain my dogs training. It was definitely worth bringing my dog here for off leash training. I have not had any issues so far outside of the house with my dog since he's completed his training.

I am confident in my ability to raise happy, balanced, well behaved dogs. But, as a working professional needing to balance a very energetic puppy and work, I found myself looking for some help. My puppy started Daycamp when she was 12 weeks old. I've been so happy with how she's come along, and what a good dog she's becoming, that I have extended her time in the program TWICE, and will continue to work with the Ruff Pup team! My spicy little Minnie is excited when I drop her off, and happy(and frequently sleepy) when I pick her up at the end of the day. It's such a weight off my mind to know she's is getting the opportunity to train, play, rest and socialize when I can't be with her. The great folks at Ruff Pup are an invaluable addition to my pup's routine.
