Russell's K9 Academy

We adopted a 45 pound hound dog mix from the county shelter. She became extremely reactive and began resource protecting - although she is an utter sweetheart, she would bark aggressively at other dogs, children, bicycles - to the point we could no longer walk her in our neighborhood or drive with her in the car. We were at our wit's end. We tried one training center for a few months but because she was only there during the day, she was an angel with the trainers but would go back to her old tricks at home, and we were not receiving the proper training ourselves to make any training effective. Thankfully we found Russell's K9. She boarded with Al for 9 weeks - it was extremely hard to part with her for that amount of time, and to be consistent in our behavior when we visited for our training with her, after she'd been there a few weeks. But I'm so grateful we stuck with it. She's been home a few days and is definitely testing her limits - but we now know how to handle her so that she feels safe and does not react to external forces. We can calmly walk her through our neighborhood, and with a simple "Nope" she restrains herself from her old behaviors. I highly recommend Russell's K9 to anyone struggling with a reactive dog who is also dearly loved. We can't thank you enough, Al!

Albert Russell did an exceptional job training our dog. Highly recommend for any type of dog in any situation. Our main issues were our dog would bolt and never get comfortable when we were camping. Now we have peace of mind and our dog is so much more relaxed. Beyond that, Albert is a deeply gifted communicator with dogs and we learned so much that we can apply to dogs our whole life. He had great communication, was up front and realistic throughout the entire process.

Earlier this year we took a chance using Russell's K9 after finding a dog that was tied to a tree and left behind the year prior. Her name is Sunny, and unfortunately seems to have a background/history that was not in her favor which resulted in multiple behavior issues including agression towards men and control. We are glad we took that chance. Mr. Russell cares about these dogs at a deep level, and is up front and realistic. If you are looking for an easy fix, and not willing to work with your animal this is not the trainer for you and he will be direct and upfront about that. We took a dog that was nearly uncontrolable on a leash walking by people, to now walking our streets with no leash, and in full control with confidence. Saving her life was a mission of ours after finding her, and Russell's program has been a huge part of her progress. This is not a shock collar program, this training teaches your dog a solid foundation to respond to verbal commands / markers before even thinking about using the e collar. The e collar is a tool in the tool box rather than the only means of control, which is what we wanted instead of just punishment by collar. Last words I heard from Russell was put a muzzle on your dog and throw him in the crate and that was that which I did not I fixed the issue on my own, Russell prays on ignorant people and I was one of them. I fell into the trap. He’s looking for a quick dollar to make could care less about your dog progress. These reviews are definitely fake..first of all, After 6 Training lessons and a lot of money, I still didn’t know how to walk my German Shepherd properly without inflicting prong collar pain Which I did not until I got a second opinion, $350 for first/one lesson a terrible brutal experience I never wish to repeat on my dog, superior K9 Academy was a free evaluation, just two lessons from a new trainer Brian from“superior K9 Academy”, I knew how to walk my dog properly Without inflicting prong collar pain and use the e-collar Properly Very happy with the results. Still working with Brian on other issues. Since then, I have purchased an online course and is the best decision anyone could possibly make.
