We offer general obedience training and group classes as well as day training and customized private training plans. Additionally, Whitney Thurston, CDBC, is one of the only certified dog behaviorists in Maine and is able to help with behavior modification for aggressive and fearful behavior dogs.

I can testify to the benefits of Salty Dogs puppy class! When we made the crazy decision to get a puppy, it had been YEARS (like 20+), we wanted a dog who could travel with us in middle age. We reached out to Salty Dogs to learn how to train. I’ve since taken on a second rescue dog and we’ve been to so many Salty Dog classes!! Our dogs now go from Maine to Florida every year and, for the most part, we love traveling with them, thanks to Salty Dogs!! Salty Dogs doesn’t only show you the basics, but they teach you to make your dog comply with what YOU personally expect from your canine companion! I can’t say enough!

Freya and I have taken just about every class offered at Salty Dogs and we always learn something and have fun. I suppose Freya is genetically presupposed to *tune into* me. Salty Dogs classes and Whitney taught ME how to tune into her.

Absolutely amazing and certified trainers who care about your dogs like they are their own. Manners 1 and 2 are a must for any new dog owner (and maybe not new...you'll surprise yourself!). Our Husky/Lab mix also loved the Tricks, Canine Good Citizen and Intro to Agility classes. Highest recommendation possible.

I have been taking my 6 month old puppy to Manners 1 and have already signed up for Manners 2. Shelby is an amazing trainer and very good at breaking down the target behaviors that I want my puppy to exhibit (loose leash walking, giving me her voluntary attention, greeting people without jumping).
I am so grateful that Salty Dogs Obedience is teaching me how to better understand my puppy by showing me how to speak "dog".
