Saugapaws Dog Resort - Dog Training and Boarding

We were extremely anxious to board our pup Rocky during our Wedding weekend, but any anxieties immediately flew out the window from the moment we stepped onto the Saugapaws property. It became immediately clear that this was not just your average boarding facility, it was a safe haven for dogs, and Colleen and Elizabeth made us feel secure in our decision every step of the way. We received daily status updates on what Rocky was up to that day, reinforced with pictures taken throughout the day showing him having the time of his LIFE! It really helped ease our anxieties and allowed us to be fully present during our time away. Colleen and Elizabeth welcomed Rocky into their home and took care of him as if he was their own, which is such a rare quality to find in boarding facilities. We would recommend Saugapaws to anyone traveling in the Saugatuck Douglas area, and would feel so comfortable bringing Rocky back any time!

No one looks after your baby as well as you do….except for Saugapaws!!! I can’t say enough wonderful things about this place and how it operates. Requirements for a pup’s stay are standard and the intake form is thorough. Response time for questions were usually within twenty four hours and never longer than a couple days. This place is just minutes from downtown Saugatuck. The grounds provide ample space for play and exploration. Elizabeth and Colleen have a loving and nurturing spirit that’s palpable even before meeting them in person. They are communicative and updated me regularly with photos and the day’s activities. The concept of taking on less clients at once is a smart and reassuring approach. My pup is elderly and needs more attending to. Elizabeth and Colleen were understanding of my concerns and open to special requests. I was comforted knowing that Astro was getting the attention and care he would receive as if he were home with me. My pup was there for overnight stays but for those interested in behavioral training, a brand new training center is currently in production!

Our six month old golden retriever, Gary spent six days at Saugapaws and we are delighted with the experience. We missed our puppy dreadfully while he was there, but Colleen and Elizabeth were over the top with their communication. We received a daily rundown of Gary’s regimen coupled with more videos and pictures than we had ever hoped for. Gary had such a wonderful time at Saugapaws, we were afraid he wouldn’t wanna come home with us, the videos of him swimming and playing with the other dogs was wonderful and heartwarming. Gary learned some tremendous skills during his time there. His ability to settle during the zoomie witching hour is remarkable. We are thrilled with our experience and can’t recommend them enough!

Love it here. We have two goldens that we don't like leaving. This was the perfect size- max 5 dogs. For the two days we left them- our dogs got to swim in their pool, go on an outdoor dog park adventure and sleep in the house with Elizabeth and Colleen. They are trusted and professional. We now have a safe place to bring our dogs so we can go out of town. Our objective was to let our dogs have a vacation while we did too. Objective met. They came home tired and happy.
