we borded our 2 yr old golden retriever with Gary and Page for 7 days. we had never borded out dog before and were a bit nervous. Gary sent us pictures to ease our minds during our trip. he looked so happy, made a few dog friends that he played with. it was obvious he was extremely well taken care of and became a part of their family. I couldnt be more happy with the treatment that Gary and Page provided. Needless to say when we have the need to board our dog again Saugerties dog care will be our 1 and only stop. If I could give Saugerties Dog Care more than 5 stars, I would. They cared for our two dogs from the Friday before our wedding through the Sunday afterward, and I truly cannot imagine our wedding weekend without them. Our dogs, Jasmine and Jaxxon, can both be anxious and reactive, so trusting someone else with them, especially during such an important weekend, was one of the biggest sources of stress for me. From the moment we dropped them off, that stress completely disappeared. A few weeks before the wedding, we also worked with Gary, the owner, on training for our one-year-old, Jaxxon. In just a few weeks, Gary made more progress with him than other trainers had in months. His ability to understand dogs, especially those with behavioral challenges, is truly remarkable, and that foundation gave us so much more confidence going into the wedding weekend. Not only did they board and care for our dogs, but they bathed them, got them looking wedding-ready, and brought them to our venue exactly when they needed to be there. Before the ceremony, they made sure both dogs got plenty of exercise so they were calm, happy, and ready for their big moment. Because of their experience, patience, and incredible handling skills, we were actually able to walk both Jasmine and Jaxxon down the aisle. This is something I honestly wasn’t sure would ever be possible… It ended up being one of the most special moments of our entire day, and we owe that entirely to them. Throughout the day, they were exactly where they needed to be, exactly when they needed to be there. They seamlessly handled every transition, took care of the dogs behind the scenes, and made the entire process feel effortless. I never once had to wonder if the dogs were okay or needed my attention. That peace of mind was an incredible gift on a day that can otherwise feel so overwhelming. If you’re looking for someone to care for your pets, especially if you have dogs with anxiety, reactivity, or other behavioral challenges, I cannot recommend Saugerties Dog Care enough. Their professionalism, communication, reliability, and genuine love for animals exceeded every expectation. They didn’t just watch our dogs… they gave us the confidence to include them in our wedding, and they quite literally made our biggest dream (besides marrying each other’s best friend) come true. That is a gift we’ll never be able to repay. We've had 2 training classes with Gary for our 1yr old dog and just signed up for 4 more. He's already taught us so much about interacting with our dog through patience, consistency, and communication methods dogs can understand. Gary spent about a half hour on the phone we me explaining his training approach and noting some things we could start doing at home before even paying for our first training session. I highly recommend Saugerties Dog Care if you're looking to start with a trainer!
