Let's start with the facts: The web page you received information from states this: This basic obedience dog training course runs for six weeks, one hour per-week. You must work your dog at home, for thirty (30) minutes each day (two, fifteen minute sessions). If you miss a class, make-ups are $40.00 each. If you attend all classes, or paid and made-up any missed class, and your dog still is not performing to your standards. You may attend any basic obedience class, with permission from the instructor providing there is room. Until you are satisfied. At no charge except for missed classes. If we feel you have not satisfied the requirements for graduation, you will be placed in to another group class, at no charge except for missed classes. Provided you attend all classes, or paid and made-up any missed class. For as long as it takes! Only the handler and dog named on the application, may work the dog! NO SUBISTITUTION of handlers is permitted. The cost of this course is $149.00 for one handler and one dog. For one dog and two handlers the cost is $219.00. You registered on 5/11/2017 at 7:07 pm, for the one dog one handler program your receipt # UK23 for $149.00. You had no problem with us in week one, in fact you stayed after class asking questions. We stayed and made sure we answered all your questions, even the ones that didn't have to do with basic obedience. It seems the problem occurred in week two of a six week class, when your wife showed up, who was not registered for the class to fill in for you. Which is a violation of your application. You knew we had two programs one dog one handler, or one dog two handlers. YOU choose the one dog one handled and ONLY Brian was signed up to work the dog. Even though you didn't pay for the second handler, we did not turn your wife away. However we did explain to her that You couldn't switch back. at that point she stated she travels as much as you do. I showed her the application where it stated Only the handler and dog named on the application, may work the dog! NO SUBISTITUTION of handlers is permitted. Your wife decided to join the class. She was at a disadvantage from the beginning, as she didn't attend the first class, and either you didn't go over the first class material with her, or well she didn't listen. This is a group class, not private lessons. Just like any learning experience, the student has to attend the class. No one can attend college for you, you have to attend it yourself. The humans are our students, the dogs are the handlers students. Which is why we have no substitution of handler rules. We won't hold up another student to re-explain what was all ready taught. We value our students time, and it is unfair when a student expects private lessons from a group class. You read the application, you signed the application. and you knew the rules. As far as abusive, negative, and rude go. Neither your wife or your dog were abused or missed treated in any manner. Yes feedback can sound negative, when correcting a student. We believed we were dealing with adults, and didn't see the need for coddling . She was upset with you before she took the field, being lost because she didn't attend the first week didn't help matters. As for rude never happened either. If you believed anything in you statement you would have never sent your wife, in your place. You tried to save the $40.00 for the missed class fee, and sent your unprepared wife to a class you knew you didn't pay for. You knew you were setting her up for failure, and trying to make us look like the bad guys. You were treated professionally, I am not sorry for protecting the interests of Scheurman's K9 Academy.

Maria Annika Smith is correct, please don't bring a service dog to us for bite training. Service dog are regulated under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) 2010, Federal Code of Regulations ." C.F.R. § 35.104 and § 36.104 (2010). Person with a Disability Under the ADA, an individual with a disability is a person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities of such an individual; a record of such an impairment; or be regarded as having such an impairment. We will not train a dog to bite for anyone who is not physically and mentally able to control a dog which has been trained to bite. Schutzhund consists of three phases: tracking, obedience, and protection (bite work). We have a moral and legal duty to our community, and to the dogs that come here not to put them at risk. We appreciate Maria bringing this to our attention, and understand her dissatisfaction.
