Serenity Dog Training

We rescued our dog, Buddy, about 7 months ago - he is an irish wolfhound/border collie mix (according to the shelter), is currently approximately 95 lbs and 1 1/2 years old (he's grown about 5 inches in every direction and put on 20 lbs since we got him), and up until we got him, had spent his entire puppy life growing up in a shelter - needless to say, since he has finally been able to get out in the world and see, smell, experience things for the very 1st time, he is highly over stimulated with everything - we wanted to be able to give him the life a dog should have, but given his size, strength, and hyperactive behavior, it was difficult to do things that he desparately needed. Todd has been an absolute godsend in providing/showing Buddy and us the information and training tools necessary to allow us and Buddy to do so much more together and provide him the life we so much want to give him. We cannot express enough to Todd our gratitude for everything he has done - coming to our house to train, taking us and Buddy to the pet store, dog park, and on walks in the neighborhood, being available even during non-training times to help any way he could, providing info necessary to assist with specific issues, i.e, leashes, halters, items to keep him in place in the car, etc (given Buddy's size, strength, and hyper reactions to everything it was difficult to find the "equipment" that he wouldnt end up busting out of 🤣🤣) - Todd has given us and Buddy the best gift ever, the help needed to give Buddy the life he deserves. Thank you so much again Todd !!

We recently adopted a young Australian Shepherd that has some PTSD from being attacked and bullied by a few dogs from his past. Todd came to visit us within a few days of bringing our boy home to offer guidance and helpful tips while he gets settled into his new home life. We wanted to start training after a few months but unfortunately our good boy also has some issues with men, so we are unable to train with Todd at this time. Being the great person that he is, Todd gave us so much useful information and tools to use while we search for another trainer. We learned so much in just two visits! Todd is kind, patient and very knowledgeable and I highly recommend him and his services.

I’m thrilled to have made the decision to enroll my puppy in obedience training with Serenity Dog Training. Todd Hastings was an incredible teacher and coach — smart, patient, practical and kind, with a real respect for animals that shone through in everything he did. His knowledge of canine behavior and instinct is deep and intuitive. Todd also gave me some great advice beyond training that was extremely helpful regarding potty training, chewing, diet and pet well-being. It’s really a team effort with Todd, the dog and the pet parents.Todd customizes his training to accommodate the comfort level of the pets and humans he is working with — so that everyone can feel confident and retain everything they are learning. The puppy package course we took covered all the basics needed to get us off on the right foot regarding safety and good pet manners. We learned so much more than I’d anticipated in just six weeks! My puppy can follow the commands and hand signals for “touch, focus, come, sit, wait, leave it, drop it, this way” and learned to walk beside me without pulling the leash. My puppy learned to do several enrichment puzzles and even received some nice treats and gifts, which was a wonderful surprise. We graduated at the pet store and learned how to safely navigate the store and interact with other dogs. It was an amazing experience and so much fun! I highly recommend Serenity and Todd as a coach. The course truly exceeded my expectations and encouraged me as a new pet parent. My little dog loved it too and was always so happy to see his teacher. Thank you, Todd!
