We brought our rescue dog, Zuko, here for training. He’s an adult male cattle dog mix who had never been taught how to walk on a leash or focus, and who was very nervous / lacked confidence around new people/environments. As soon as we picked him up after 3 weeks, the difference in his confidence was very noticeable! It was amazing seeing how much better he was on a leash and how well he maintained focus with whoever was handling him. One thing that really stood out to us about Shelmar Kennels was the emphasis they put on exercise for dogs, which many larger training facilities do not seem to focus on. Especially for a herding breed like Zuko, that was a huge selling point for us. We are overall very, very happy with Martin and his team and what they did for Zuko.

Martin and his team are amazing. When we rescued our dog , Ollie, he had no training at all. He is now a perfectly behaved gentleman who is still very loving but no longer jumps on people, comes when called, is well behaved on a leash, etc. We are thrilled with the training both Ollie and we received at Shelmar. Cannot recommend them enough.

Martin did a great job working with Gus for a 2 week session. Gus was immediately obedient when we picked him up. Martin thoroughly explains his training processes and why they work. Highly Recommended.

Shelmar Kennels trained our first German Shepherd. So, it only made sense that our second boy (Scout) would go there for training as well. Martin does a great job training and he was super helpful. He took plenty of time to answer all my questions and give me tips on how to get the most out of Scout's behavior!

Martin did a great job with our 6 month old Ridgeback. After just 3 weeks, Koda is very responsive, and settles easily on his own. This is a great base for us to continue our training with him at home. Can't recommend Shelmar enough.
