SIRIUS Puppy & Dog Training

We took our puppy to the Sirius puppy training class in Mountain View taught by Sue. Overall a horrible waste of money. Everything she taught could be learned on YouTube. She basically taught basic obedience commands by luring the puppy with cheese and REALLY fattening tasty treats. Obviously any dog/animal/human will listen. If you’re interested in behavior training, look for a real facility like Klub K9.

We took our Australian Shepherd puppy here for his first classes and the puppy socials. They were great with him, despite him not being food motivated and often a loud talker. As most Aussies are, he was easily distracted and struggled to focus during training. The trainers were patient and calm, allowing us space to work with him and learn alongside him. I loved how they invited the whole family to be part of the process and encouraged our kids to be active participants in their training. 2 years later, Fitch is the best behaved dog we've ever owned, despite being the most hyper. We will take every puppy we get in the future to Sirius for their puppy classes and socials.

Anyone who’s puppy is excitable, assertive, or lacks food drive is not manageable for these trainers. If your puppy is quiet, loves food, and not excited by other dogs, then this is the place for you. The books written by Dr Ian Dunbar, are excellent. Clearly the current system of training present in Sirius classes has fallen far from the original values of Dr Dunbar. I’d recommend a good balanced trainer such as Nitro K9. They have been amazing and very helpful. My dog, Milo would have been very different without them.
