Do you do in home training?
While all the training we provide is meant to be applicable in your home or any other environment, the majority of our training appointments take place at one of our two training facilities in Austin.

After offering Board & Train programs for many years, we discontinued those programs in lieu of more owner-involved options. We found that dogs and their humans saw greater long-term success when they trained together, rather than having the dog train on their own and making the owner play catch-up. Our Day Camp program is an excellent alternative to a Board & Train because while our trainers still get plenty of time to work with your pup, you get your dog back at the end of each day and can begin implementing your dog's new training in your home right from the start. This will help to avoid confusion for your dog and allow you an amazing bonding experience of learning together alongside your pup.

A guarantee of completion or success is impossible to provide when we are talking about living, thinking creatures. Your dog is not a robot, they have their own unique personality along with a life full of their own, personal experiences, as do you - their human! With that being said, what we can guarantee is that we will provide you with the tools, education, and support needed to ensure your dog can be successful in training. What is the consultation and do I have to schedule one?
The consultation is a free appointment to meet with one of our trainers and learn about what we have to offer. While not strictly necessary in most cases, it is highly recommended to schedule one so we can explain the details of how our training will work for your pup. The Sit Means Sit collar is a micro stim modality that is very similar to the micro stim units used in the medical and athletic fields. These micro stim units essentially use low-level, adjustable electronic stimulation to create a muscle contraction. In the medical field, they are used as aids to help alleviate pain, promote blood circulation and induce healing. For our SMS collar, an adjustable micro stim signal is manually sent from a remote, which translates into a “tap” delivered to the Sit Means Sit Collar. It varies depending on the service, you can do board and trains, day trains, private sessions, or package deals for a year at a time with unlimited weekly and biweekly group sessions in that year. Been taking my pup for a few months, worth the money.

In just a short period, our puppies have significantly improved and learned the behaviors introduced during the full-day classes. The group sessions are particularly beneficial as they teach dogs to behave even amidst distractions and other dogs. Whether you have a young puppy or a reactive adult dog, their skilled staff is well-prepared to guide them towards better behavior. Please remember that no dog is unteachable; with the right training, every dog can learn so don't give up on them. Sit Means Sit trains your dog and equips you with the necessary skills to continue their training at home. Be ready to invest time and effort—just as much as your furry babies —to see the best outcomes. It's challenging but incredibly rewarding to have a well-behaved dog.

My golden retriever was attacked when he was about 9 months old and became reactive to other dogs. We had previous experience with training for things like agility and he had pretty basic obedience skills down (like sit, down, don’t eat unless told to, and so on). We enrolled with sit means sit because I wanted to have more confidence in my ability to recall him, work on his reactivity, and have a calm, obedient dog in any environment that is more focused on me than any distractions that are around us.
We have grown so much together. It’s as much training for me as it is for him. He’s much better walking on a leash now, I am more confident with our recall, and his sits and down commands have grown too (longer distances away and longer durations!). The class environment is fun and it’s cool to see the other dogs and their owners grow too. I think there’s always room to keep developing what we’ve learned. But the classes are a great foundation and give you all the tools to continue practicing every day.
No two classes have been exactly the same, and even if we are covering a similar skill, we’ve been introduced to many different ways to practice them. The instructors have all been very kind and I appreciate that they stick around to answer questions after class and give pointers for someone’s specific situation if it’s brought up, or show different variations for practicing skills if one way isn’t working for owner/dog. Jerry and Christian were really exceptional to work with and are fountains of knowledge!
My dog is significantly less reactive than he was prior to enrolling in lessons, and is even starting to make friends with other dogs now.
It is sometimes difficult to make it to classes due to my work schedule conflicting with most of them. That concerns me for finishing them all within the allotted time frame so definitely ask to see the schedule and see if you can make them. Having one of the ones I could attend removed from the schedule makes it difficult too.

Excellent establishment and wonderful dog trainers to help along with my dog's issues. My dog has anxiety issues and is reactive to other dogs and critters. After attending SMS training she walks in the park, can walk by other dogs without any issues what so ever. We have a happy home as she no longer is rude to guests and is much more confident and polite to strangers.

This is the 3rd time I'm training my dog and love the staff and the team. They have been intentional and helpful and feel this is finally it, the issues I have are being worked on in a positive and healthy manner. It's been a great journey.
