Sit Means Sit Dog Training Chicago

I am so grateful to have found Mikey, Tony, and their team at Sit Means Sit! My partner and I adopted Bertie, an 8 year old Pitbull, back in November 2021 that the shelter stated was dog friendly and leash trained. He in fact is not dog friendly, and was not leash trained. I did a free consult with Mikey who listened to my concerns and recommended what package would work best for Bertie. He explained the e-collar they train with, which I was very nervous about at first. Turns out it’s nothing to be worried about and very safe! I even tried it on myself the day we got the collar. They go through a fairly quick in depth training the first session when you get the collar, including how to rotate it and prevent hot spots, especially on a dog that tends to have much more sensitive skin like my guy! They really care about the safety of your dog, and if you don’t listen or follow what they say, that’s definitely not on them. Within days of my consult with Mikey, our downstairs neighbor called our landlord stating Bertie was aggressive because he reacted to that neighbors french bulldog when the dog was off leash and sprinted straight at Bertie. We got a warning that one more occurrence and we’d have to get rid of Bertie. I called SMS panicking, and they were phenomenal!! We couldn’t start training for a little over a month as they were having their own continuing education courses (love it!), however they were able to schedule an appointment with us prior to Bertie starting the training program to be able to get us through until training! When we finally started training, things were gone over in great detail, and any concerns and questions were answered. I could not believe the difference a single day made, let alone 6 sessions. I continue to take Bertie to group classes once a week as I feel that this helps Bertie a lot. Tony and Mikey believed in Bertie even when I was absolutely petrified. Not only do they build up the confidence of your dog, but they also build up the confidence of you! I don’t fear taking Bertie out anymore, nor encountering another dog on a walk. I’m able to get him on a 20ft leash at a forest preserve and let him run around and play. Although Bertie will never be a dog friendly dog, the amount of progress that has been made is huge. Mikey has even helped us immensely with Bertie’s diet, sitting down with us and having a whole conversation. No longer are we being gassed out by Bertie’s farts. I truly couldn’t be more thankful for Sit Means Sit and the entire team.

ADDED BONUS, I lost 4% body fat training with Mikey. Started classes 4 weeks ago when my 85 lb rottie performed swan lake on my window sills trying to get at a dog walking outside. I worked with Mikey Thomas primarily. Both Mikey and Tony are very patient with pet parents. They go over the process or desired goal as often as needed for you and your fur baby to be successful. At lesson 2 Mikey wanted us to walk the dog walk. I told him he was mad. He talked and walked me through the process multiple times, taking time to explain dog thinking. Low and behold, my puppy walked the dog walk several times after he made sure I was confident with the process. Sit Means Sit offers a variety of packages. I went with the Ultimate Private Training Package. I plan on continuing with additional types of training with Sit Means Sit Chicago and looking forward to joining them for group classes in the coming weeks.
