Sit Means Sit Dog Training Chicago

What a transformation our 4 year old German Shepherd has gone through. Before going to Sit Means Sit, he would bark at every dog that passed by our front window, he'd pull on our walks, and would bark at every dog he saw while outside. He is a smart dog and we didn't know how to use his brains in a positive way. He went to work with Alexa and her staff for 2 weeks and the dog that we took back home was a completely different one. He listens to everything we say and has a purpose for what he's doing. I was able to take him for a walk solo with our 7 month old in the stroller. This would NEVER have been a thought in my mind prior to Sit Means Sit. I highly recommend talking with Alexa and seeing how she can work with your dog. It is a whole new world around here!

It was okay. The company was great to work with and the trainers are good people, but we weren't really able to fix the problems that we called them about. We ordered 3 in-home classes, and our biggest issue was trying to fix separation anxiety. It wasn't until the 3rd (last) class that the separation anxiety was "addressed", and the methods taught just didn't really work for my dog. I didn't like how the 1st of 3 of the classes seemed kind of wasteful (we basically just went over how to use the shock collar, and a drill to do every day for the first week). The 2nd class was basically obedience training (now that the dog responded to the collar/leash based on 1st weeks lesson; Still wasn't really addressing the issue we called them about, though). I also didn't like how the answer to everything seemed to always end up being "if you want to correct the issue, simply use the shock collar". That's not a verbatim quote; it's just what it felt like the response to every issue was. If I had known that I just had to shock our dog whenever it did something I didn't like, then i could have saved myself some money. My dog's separation anxiety still persists, and we've just sort of resorted to being consistent and using medication. I appreciate our trainer still being resourceful even after the 3 classes, even if it does now take him a week or so to respond :).

Alexa and Sydney did a great job with my Goldendoodle, Maggie, who was trained by them in their board and train program. They helped my dog with impulse control. Maggie has made a lot of progress with their training techniques. I get compliments from people about Maggie's good behavior. They offer free training classes for the dog after they have completed the board and train program to make sure they continue their good behavior and Maggie likes going to the facility.

If I could enter a -5 stars I would. I too had the same sad experience with Ryan Hedrich. After five sessions he fell off the grid. Very disappointing. I have invested in another trainer named Jeff Hakanson, owner of DogStyle in Libertyville. Talk about an excellent trainer. He had to undo the horrible training Ryan had attempted. I guess if there is a silver lining with Ryan's incompetence it is I met Jeff and have truly received the training I paid for. Shame on Sit Means Sit and Ryan, I have contacted the BBB and filed a report.
