Imagine a 13 month old Siberian Husky that can be off leash and under control! Of course, we are careful with this due to his age, and never have him off leash near roadways. I suspect our caution is based mainly on our fears and less on Mickey’s training. We began our training with Sit Means Sit just as the COVID19 pandemic broke out. Through the confusion and fears of those early days, Ryan found ways to make our training effective. As seniors, we were very concerned about exposure, but Ryan was thoughtful and sensitive to our concerns - he made it all work for us! Now we are in the group class phase of training and enjoy it very much. In addition , Ryan has made himself very available to us to bounce issues we encounter off him. Our experience, I believe is typical. The Sit Means Sit training program is sound and Ryan is a great trainer, perhaps a bit of a dog whisperer. Ryan is an amazing trainer! Our dog Kodi, who we’ve had for about a year, is highly anxious. We knew when we adopted him it’d be a long journey - he couldn’t wear a leash at all without panicking, pooping himself, and biting in a panic to protect himself. We’d built trust with him over the year so when everything was safe, he was great, but we felt like we’d plateaued with his training. We had worked with Sit Means Sit in Madison with our other dog and seen amazing results, so when we discovered a new SMS in Des Moines, we reached out right away and from the start, Ryan was amazing. He took the time to meet us and spent an afternoon working with Kodi at our house before taking him for a board and train program. After a little over a week, Kodi came back to us comfortable having a collar put on and off, wearing a leash, and even sitting for muzzle training to help us at future vet appointments. We also gained so many skills as dog owners, knowing more about how to support Kodi. He’s such a happy confident dog - he still has some anxiety of course, but his urge to fight and panic is greatly diminished. He LOVES going on walks and car rides - simply amazing!
