Sit Means Sit Dog Training - Portland

I have a one year old Dutch shepherd who was my brothers dog until he passed recently. I didn’t have much experience with a high energy breed prior to Laika, but I knew I had to take him in. He was super smart, but had a hard time staying focused or learning when he needed to settle. He couldn’t walk on a leash without a prong, and would lock onto other people or dogs and would not focus on me. I quickly became overwhelmed by the energy and lack of control with him. My brother had previously sent him to a board and train facility that had gone sideways and really left him hesitant about other training facilities, so I was a bit cautious at first. But the last few weeks of taking him to Sit means Sit has been nothing short of an amazing experience. Jessica was great and answered all of my questions before starting the program and even let me tour the facility before deciding on the distraction day train program. The facility was super clean (it didn’t even smell like dog!) and all the dogs seemed super happy to be there. Laika’s trainer, Kaylee, soon became one of Laika’s favorite people. I knew I had made the right choice when I could see how excited he would be at drop off. Kaylee was super great, answered all of my questions and helped me to become more confident in understanding his behaviors and how to better set Laika up for success. Laika will soon be graduating the day train classes and be starting group classes soon, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. I’m able to take him with me to work without him not being able to just sit still, and he doesn’t need a prong anymore. He is also less anxious when it comes to baths, vet visits and nail trims and we are both happier because of it! Thank you Kaylee and thank you Jessica! Laika and I are looking forward to more classes :)

Sit means sit has changed our lives for good! Ethan is a highly talented and skilled trainer who is extremely knowledgeable, articulate and great to work with. He has given us tools to help navigate our energetic and loving Ziggy boy! We came to Sit Means Sit due to Ziggy’s struggles with leash aggression, barking and reactivity, and within the first week saw marked improvements. Our 1:1 sessions have been tremendously productive and presented a learning curve for both owners and pet. We are so grateful to Ethan and the SMS team for helping build our confidence and broadening Ziggy’s skillset. We are heading into group classes with swagger now, eager to learn more! If you are dedicated to helping improve your pup’s behavior, this company is a game changer for humans and dogs alike, and is definitely worth every penny !
