Sit Means Sit Syracuse specializes in off leash obedience to the Syracuse and Central New York area. We have a variety of programs including private lessons, day train programs, and board and train programs. We also offer group classes and agility classes.
Please note we are virtual only on Mondays. Please visit us in person Tuesday-Saturday during our normal hours.

One of our biggest training philosophies is tackling any training issue at the root of the problem, which is usually away from the home under distracting environments. That being said, we encourage both private and group training sessions at our facility or in a public setting that we refer to as “field trips”! Does it cost money to meet with you all to see if you would be able to train my dog?
We offer a completely free consultation in order for us to get to know you, your dog, and training goals. From there, we will recommend the package that would be best! Sometimes they do have a coupon in the clipper flyer. Prices vary depending on the package. A couple hundred to a thousand dollars. I had a very aggressive dog and he did wonderful with Sit Means Sit.

Depends upon package thaat you choose from. The more extensive, the more expensive. My dogs did great with it.

I didn’t have much hope that our 2 year old GSP Boone could be trained in many areas. Our goals were to have him not jump on people, be able to walk him with out being dragged on his walks. My husband was the only one to walk him and it wasn’t a pleasant experience because he just took off and dragged him. That was not fun. My hope was to someday be able to walk him myself. Deep down I didn’t think it was possible. When we finished with his evaluation we were told what we hoped for was achievable. I was skeptical. But we set up the 3 all day classes. On his first day his trainer Joanna sent me a videos of his first day. When I watched that video I cried! I said omg that can’t be my dog lol. I watched that video a lot. The best help was at the end of the day Nick worked with my husband and I teaching us how to put Boone through his lessons when we were with him at home. He tested us in his home environment but we followed the instructions we were taught. Plus having the video of his lesson helped a lot. Boone loved going to his class and was very fond of Joanna! They asked each week what we would like them to teach Boone. He was thought to stay in a room until he was given the ok to come out. He did that the night we got home and everyday since. He learned not to steal things off the counters. The videos were a bright point of my day. They helped in so many ways. Giving us the confidence we could teach him. We still have small challenges nothing happens overnight. It’s loving your dog enough to make him happy by being good and making us happy we have the skills to keep him leaving . Proud all the way around. I could go on about our wonderful experience at Sit Means Sit . If who ever is reading my review and your trying to decide whether you will sign your dog I pray you put your fur baby in the hands of all the wonderful trainers and staff members I can assure you will not be disappointed. Dave has been Phenomenal, communicated consistently with me, taught me things I never knew about dogs and has been a blessing. He has taught both of my service dogs (one passed) and I have had so many compliments on how well trained they are. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND him to anybody. His team is absolutely amazing and dedicated to ensuring a well trained dog. Dave’s passion for dogs shows everyday to include when my service dog had surgery he called that evening to ensure her surgery went well and that she was home safely. Dave I can’t thank you enough for what you have done for me, my family, Maggie(Passed) and Daisy. I can’t wait to see what’s next for Daisy and her future as my new service dog and best friend. Place is awesome. Worth every penny. Staff was accommodating and so friendly. Our primary trainer Jo was so good with basil and trained her so well. She listened to every question we had no matter the “silliness” of it and answered with kindness and knowledge each time

We brought our dog, Basil, to Sit Means Sit because she was stubborn and we have a newborn. Those two don’t mix! After just three sessions, she’s a completely new dog (but still her goofy, lovable self). She listens so well, stays out of our space when we need her to, and is such a joy to be around. Jo did an amazing job training her, and explained everything so well to us when we picked her up at the end of each day. We can’t recommend this place enough and only wish we’d done it sooner!
