Sit Means Sit Dog Training - Western Chicago

I got a rescue dog or year and a half ago and everybody told me I should give him back. He jumped on people, ate all my furniture and he had aggressive tendencies. A neighbor across the street recommended sit means sit and I called. Where's the best phone call I made. Kerry treated him with loving care and kept him for as long as she thought he needed so he can return a civilized dog. She has been more than wonderful and has help me out by taking him back to her house on emergency occasions and otherwise. Without her he would be looking for a new home. I can't say enough good things about this organization.

Let me tell you about my boy, Gunnar. He's a Jack/Parsons Russell who can be aggressive and stubborn. If someone walks past my house, he'll charge the fence, bark, jump up and down, run back and forth and basically act like a lunatic. If my other dog gets in his way, he will redirect and go after him. My initial plan was to buy a 6ft privacy fence so that he couldn't see outside the yard (I currently have a chainlink fence with privacy slats). I realized that I was only masking the problem and not addressing it. Then I met Kerry from Sit Means Sit South Chicagoland. While I was leery of e-collar training, I was completely impressed with the demonstration, her history, her personality and training techniques. She explained that the e-collar was used as a "tap on the shoulder" to redirect the dog from doing something bad. It is not used to correct bad behavior therefore it is up to the owner to be proactive and really watch their dog's behavior. I made the decision to send Gunnar to her bootcamp. I wasn't ready for how he came back. He was still my sweet boy but now is listening when I recall him. I can take him on walks with confidence. I know I can control him, if necessary, around other dogs. I also had a true test when someone walked past my house with their dog. Gunnar didn't charge the fence and sat next to me on command. I know this training is forever and I have to be consistent. Kerry has given me the knowledge and advice to be successful. If you are considering training for your dog, I highly recommend Kerry and Sit Means Sit. She is wonderful with the dogs. Patient. Knowledgeable. Respectful. She will keep you posted on your dog's progress. What I appreciate the most is that, even though we are done with bootcamp, she is always available if I have a question or need help. Kerry and her staff are truly awesome at what they do!
