Sit Means Sit - Massachusetts

Dave has been amazing with my dog. I rescued my dog about a year ago and she has been getting increasingly more reactive/territorial to the point I couldn’t walk her by someone without the fear my dog would attack the person. I have been through two trainers and a behaviorist, I did not see any improvement until working with Dave. I didn’t believe him when he told me I would see huge improvements after 1 session. I have only had three sessions and I am able to walk my dog without holding the leash past people and other dogs! I highly recommend Dave to anyone especially those who may have a highly reactive dog!

We brought our 1 year old pup, Finnegan, to Dave at Sit Means Sit after seeing the positive experience my sister had with her dog around 10 years ago. Finn is a very active dog and as he continued to grow stronger he became harder to handle outside on our walks. Dave was able to provide us with guidance from day 1 and we’ve already noticed a considerable difference in Finn’s behavior. Now that we’re able to communicate to Finn what we want him to do he has become much more confident and we have been able to trust him more. Dave was also able to touch base with our doggy daycare provider to make sure everyone was on the same page when it comes to Finn’s training. Very appreciative of Dave and the entire team at Sit Means Sit for providing excellent advice and always being available for a follow-up.

We had a great experience training with Dave at Sit Means Sit. Lucy started his program around 6 months old, and has made huge strides since starting the program. Lucy now has much better impulse control, listens more consistently, and is far more adaptable in new or distracting environments. Walks are calmer, commands are clearer, and overall she’s more confident and settled, which has made daily life easier and more enjoyable for both of us. Dave was patient, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind. He explained things clearly, gave practical guidance we could actually use at home, and was always focused on setting Lucy (and me!) up for success. Highly recommend Sit Means Sit and working with Dave!

I don't think I could say enough great things about Dave and the Sit Means Sit program, but I am going to do my best. I brought my 6 year old Huskadoodle Walter to him not knowing what to expect, but understanding that both Waltman and myself needed some serious guidance. Walter is extremely hyperactive, mouthy, and essentially used to doing whatever he wants. Taking him out in public has always been extremely challenging as he is 75lbs and hard to control. After meeting Dave and committing to the program, I saw instant changes in not only Walter but myself. Walter is more gentle, no longer dragging me around on his leash, and overall much less anxious. He is the same happy go lucky dog, but he now has the structure that he so desperately needed. I am also less anxious for guests to come to my home or to take Walter out in public. I didn't think this would be possible at his age, but Dave proved me wrong. I truly recommend this program and wish I could give it 10 stars. Dave gave myself and Walter the chance at a happy, structured life together and I am so grateful for that.

I can’t say enough amazing things about Sit Means Sit! First off, signing up and scheduling sessions was incredibly easy. Everyone was so kind and professional throughout the whole process. Before we started, my dog was sweet but crazy and not redirect-able at all. Sadie would pull on walks, ignore commands and jump on furniture as well as people. For reference she is a chihuahua mix and known to be incredibly stubborn. Now? It feels like I’m living with a completely transformed pup. Dave is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about helping both dogs AND their humans succeed. Every session was clear, supportive, and full of tips on how/what to practice at home. What I loved most is that the program focuses on understanding your dog’s behavior rather than forcing quick fixes. The results show for themselves because after one session I could already see a change in Sadie’s behavior. After just a couple weeks, Sadie is walking by my side on leash (and even without me holding the leash), responding consistently to commands, and showing so much more confidence. You can tell the structure this training provided made a world of difference for her anxiety/separation anxiety. Even my family has noticed how much she has changed in such a positive way in only two weeks. If you’re on the fence, trust me: this is the best investment you can make for your dog.
