Sit Means Sit San Gabriel Valley

Honest review. I have to say that I was sceptical about using an e-collar and also about how much a dog could truly be trained here at sit means sit. However, my scepticism no longer exists. From the moment we showed up sit means sit had nothing but patience and kindness. We voiced our worries about an e-collar and the strategies and they took their time to explain everything to us very thoughtfully. Our dog Addy was rescued from a shelter and we got her at about 4 months. We did 1 puppy class and 3 all day classes with sit means sit. In addition, they allow you to attend group classes for up to a year I believe. I will say, I went to a couple group classes and realized I didn't need them because my dog was so good. lol No lying!! I did not want a "show dog" and I did not care for my dog to do any extensive tricks. I just wanted the basics to be very good. I got exactly what I wanted. My dog Addy comes back to me on command without hesitation. Even when there are distractions like other dogs, people, or squirrels, etc... She sits at my side for as long as I need her to. On walks she will not leave my side unless I allow her to "break" and have free time. I run with her for 3-6 miles and she will stay by my side. Oh yea all of this is off leash. If I ask her to place, let's say on a park bench, she will stay there until I allow her to break from her position. We go on hikes and walks and I have zero worries. To the people concerned about an e-collar. Here is what I can tell you. Our dog is super happy and loving. I know she didn't get treated badly because when we show up to sit means sit she goes crazy and gets excited and wants to run up to the trainers. In addition, She has zero aggression and is so kind. Dogs have been aggressive towards her and she never reacts. She has so much love and confidence. The e-collar allows Addy to live her best life. She gets to run free and be a dog because I know that she is safe and I can have her come back and listen to me on command. I don't fear her running in the streets or getting hurt because I can bring her back to me when danger is present. When we get our next dog we will 100% bring them to sit means sit. I never knew my relationship could be so amazing with my dog. She trusts me and I trust her in a way that I never experienced before coming to sit means sit. Their strategies work.

If I could give this place 0 starts I would. I took my dog there a few months ago to work on training and after I ended up with a dog full of anxiety and distrust in humans. When I observed the trainers at the Glendora location I saw them use excessive force and an abuse of the shock collar on my dog. They would push my dog to its limits during training. The trainers are not afraid to use abuse their power in order to make the dogs they are training do the commands they are expecting them to do. The trainers ignore signs of discomfort in the dogs they are training. They would take aggressive measures to break my dog into submission to them. Awful place and most people that take their dogs here are unaware of their tactics because they leave their dogs for day camp with them. They also make you sign paperwork prohibiting the owners from posting negative reviews about them. Just an awful place to trust your dog with. Go anywhere else.

My puppy and I signed up in April 2025 and he's so well-behaved. My puppy went to school at Sit Means Sit SV while I went to work and when I picked him up we had a one-hour lesson to continue his training at home until he went back the following week. The whole family was encouraged to participate. This continued two more times and we were transitioned into the twice-weekly group classes for one year. Unfortunately we moved 90 miles away in June 2025 and Aaron helped us connect with the San Diego location to continue the weekly group classes. Aaron still opened an invitation for me to continue working with the group classes in San Gabriel. He also continued to support me via Zoom, text, or FaceTime for training troubleshooting. They all do so much and made me feel confident in handling dogs. Without a leash at 11 months my Bernadoodle will sit in-place on-command when unfamiliar dogs approach and maintain eye contact with me until I release him. I can stop him with a command when he has the zoomies or when my sister's 3-year old Doberman gets an alert and runs out of sight. My 5-year old Frenchie (who has no formal training) has learned the same good habits because of what I learned from Aaron at Sit Means Sit. Aaron, Kyle, and all of the staff at Sit Mean Sit SV are professional, accommodating, helpful and extremely knowledgeable about canine behaviors and offer individualized support for every dog and their families.
