I have never boarded my dog at this location nor used their training facility. My review is about the customer service I experienced when calling, and how I felt after the conversation. I’ve used another Sit Means Sit location in Dallas for several years, doing both training (2021) and boarding, and I’ve loved it! When I called this location, I wanted to get a feel for their boarding process compared to the other location. That call left me uncomfortable. We discussed the basics and he asked me if we still have the e-collar from his initial SMS training. When I mentioned we haven’t used the e-collar in several years, he said they’d need to use an e-collar if my dog barks too much because the facility is small warehouse. That logic didn’t sit right with me. A smaller space should mean more attention and care. While my dog doesn’t have a barking issue either, the fact that his first concern for potential barking and immediate solution to use an e-collar made me feel uneasy, personally. It’s not how I like to use the e-collar or how we were trained to. Others may feel different, and that’s okay! But when I questioned it, he quickly got defensive, and eventually ended the call abruptly, “Okay, BYE.” In the end, I personally wouldn’t feel comfortable boarding my dog here based on that call. For me, I’d only consider for my pup a boarding experience that feels more personalized, empathetic, and patient. If the conversation with me lacked that sense of patience, I don’t feel right leaving my dog in that environment. Boarding decisions are personal for me, and I was hoping for an approach that made me feel more at ease.
