Last winter, we decided to “look into” training for our two labs (Buddy, age 2 and River, age 4) to help us correct some behavioral issues (separation anxiety) and have the ability to recall if off leash. Our primary concern going in was losing/altering the dogs’ personalities through this process. Upon meeting Shawn for the initial in-house meeting and after the first training session, we knew we would be in good hands. We went into this knowing we needed training just as much as our dogs. Shawn was able to help us become better dog handlers. Throughout the training process Shawn always listened to our concerns and at-home experiences and tailored the training to fit our needs. His ability to connect to the handlers and the dogs is truly an amazing experience. His extensive experience with dogs shows and he does not push the training beyond each dogs individual stress limits. If there is a “dog whisperer” his name would be Shawn. Our dogs are always excited to go to training and the SMASH K9 facility is set up perfectly for a learning environment. The results we received from the on/off leash obedience training were immediate throughout the training. We were absolutely amazed at the progress we would see every week. We're able to walk our dogs through our busy neighborhood without them reacting to distractions (pulling, barking, and whining). We are also able to take them for walks off leash and recall when needed. We constantly get comments on how well behaved River and Buddy are. Shawn is amazing and we cannot thank him enough. We highly recommend Shawn and SMASH K9!!!!

We decided to put our 4-month old puppy through the 3 week basic day training to help build a good foundation for a dog that would be large and strong when full grown. He was also pretty obnoxiously excited to see any dog - he just barked! Baler was excited each day we dropped him off and each evening we were amazed as we watched Baler’s manners improve! Fast forward to now, we get so many compliments on how well behaved Baler is! This training has made it easier for us to have a puppy and a 1 year old child. We have even been able to use his training to teach him how to be off lead with an amazing recall! I can take him for walks or to the vet without him barking at all of the dogs - what a relief! Highly recommend SMASH K9! They helped create a strong core foundation that will set our family and Baler up for success.

We walked into SmashK9 with a very scared pup . He had been traumatized from a previous trainer. Shawn saw this and assured us he could help. After on and off lead training we got our Snickers back. He no longer bites, he can sit, stay , walk on a lead, be around people and dogs (still working), he smiles , he plays and is all around fun. We have our boy back. We owe Shawn and Sheri a big Thank You! SmashK9 is the only place to do dog training…you don’t feel like Shawn is doing a job, you feel like you have become part of his family. Shawn truly loves what he does and cares about your pet and it shows.

Had a great experience training our young GSP with Shawn! We brought her to Smash K9 to see if we could get some help with her jumping and her on-lead pulling while on walks. Within just a few sessions we saw a noticeable reduction in her “bad” behaviors and she just continued to get better and better. Introduction of an e-collar into our training really helped to solidify her training and allowed us to give her reinforcements at distance. We realize that “dog” training is as much about training the owners as it is about training the actual dog, so we continue to practice what we learned and to build upon further the fantastic foundation that Shawn has given us. And while not 100% perfect, our little GSP is now a pleasure to be around and to take on walks, in the car and out in public. And more importantly, we have to confidence to handle any behaviors that might come up. We highly recommend Smash K9 for your training needs!
