There was one trainer and four helpers for the intro to obedience class I took my 9 month old dog too. From day one the trainer singled me out as an example as to what not to do. The helpers would stand around watching but not offering any helpful advice. Everyone there seemed way more interested in telling me what not to do instead of helping me help my dog do the correct thing. There were one or two unruly dogs in the class that were much larger than my dog and therefore were intimidating to him. After four weeks of being called out for our “failures” I had had enough. I left during the first 15 minutes of a class because one of the unruly dogs and its handler had walked in front of us because the handler couldn’t control the speed in which the dog walked. In other words it pulled and the handler had to keep up. I had lost my dogs attention and when I did get it back I turned around to find they had assumed our position which allowed them to be much closer than instructed. Instead of scolding them, the instructor screamed at me for pulling to harshly on my dogs leash. Her reaction made it sound as if I was abusing him when all I was attempting to do was to keep him away from an unfamiliar dog that was three times the size of my dog. That was all I could take from these very UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE and WORTHLESS trainers. Shame on them for making what should have been a difficult but enjoyable experience and ruining it. I was so angry and embarrassed when I left and now I feel as if I let my dog down when it should be them who feel that way.
