Alex is an incredible trainer. He is compassionate, professional and insightful—not to mention patient. We thought we had no hope when it came to our ability to guide and train our dog. Alex has changed our lives and allowed our dog to enjoy so much more! Walks are substantially less stressful, and our already strong bond with our dog is even more solid thanks to the work we’ve done with Alex.

What does trust-based dog training mean?
Trust-based dog training focuses on building a strong relationship between you and your dog through clear communication, leadership, and mutual respect. How do you stop dogs from pulling on the leash, especially during hikes or walks?
At Strong Bond Dog Training, we take a trust-based approach to leash training. Instead of forcing your dog to walk in a rigid position, we teach them that leash walking is a partnership. We help your dog understand that being on a leash still allows them to meet their needs—whether it's sniffing, exploring, or moving at a comfortable pace. We also guide you in choosing the right leash length and walk style to create a stress-free experience.

Whether your dog displays fear-based reactivity, aggression, or anxiety, our training techniques focus on building confidence, trust, and calmness. Do you have any puppy training tips?
Yes! The best thing you can do is start puppy training early. Your puppy is always learning—so the sooner you teach them boundaries, communication, and leadership, the easier it will be as they grow. What is psychiatric service dog training?
A psychiatric service dog is trained to assist individuals with mental health conditions through specific tasks and behavioral support. What is the difference between obedience training and trust-based training?
Obedience training focuses on making the dog comply with commands, often without addressing the root cause of behavioral issues. Trust-based dog training, on the other hand, looks at why a dog is acting a certain way and teaches them through communication, leadership, and relationship-building. This leads to lasting behavioral change instead of just quick fixes.

I happened to come across The Hidden Habits of Highly Successful Pack Leaders by Alex on Facebook. I bought it—and I loved it. As I was looking at the cover, I realized the photo was taken right here in Boulder! Since I live in Boulder, I reached out to Alex and Christine to work with my dog, Vinny. Working with Alex has been truly transformative for my relationship with Vinny—and for our whole family. He helped me see how my own thoughts and expectations about who I thought Vinny should be were actually creating distance between us. Once I understood that, everything started to shift. My love for Vinny has deepened so much, and our connection has grown in ways I didn’t expect. Vinny continues to gain confidence and is turning into a truly happy little guy. I’m so grateful for the journey we’re on!

It’s no exaggeration to say that Alex has transformed our lives in just a few months. Since rescuing our extremely reactive chihuahua mix, who came from a very traumatic past, we had worked with three different trainers and a veterinary behaviorist, but made only limited progress. Then we found Alex. Within the first 30 minutes of our first session, our pup was calmly walking near another dog without reacting, a breakthrough we had never experienced before. After just three months of working with Alex, I can now join friends on walks with their dogs without any issues, something I once thought was impossible. Alex’s unique, thoughtful approach, expert guidance, and genuine care have improved our dog’s quality of life, as well as our own. While our pup is still a work in progress, we finally feel confident about the path ahead. We cannot recommend Alex highly enough.
What I've learned with Strong Bond has fundamentally shifted my perspective, revealing how much more keenly our dogs observe the world around them. The creative learning games are essential for both strengthening our bond and developing an irreplaceable insight into their experiences. I'm deeply thankful for Strong Bond and the continuous wisdom it provides.
