I went to Jerry because he was recommended to me for puppy classes. I trusted Jerry because he sounded very experienced and knowledgeable but during one class he took my dog with him and whipped him with a leash every time he barked until he stopped. I was being told to hit him with a leather leash every time he barked or raised his fur and “if he cried even better”. Jerry even demonstrated the leash whipping on our kitchen table. I talked to multiple professionals who said that is not how they train dogs anymore but I still trusted him. Jerry came to our house to see the reactivity and told me I was never tough on him and that he was going to be so aggressive and bite someone. He told me to do the leash thing again. As soon as he left my roommate said “we’re not doing that”. Since then I have found a dog behavioralist that met him and said he was just a timid dog and not aggressive at all. Since working with this new trainer, My dog has come so far with his reactivity and has since met so many new people and new dogs and has had so many positive experiences. Jerry was wrong about my dog and I think it would have done more damage to my dog had I listened any longer. Please do not bring a dog with reactivity or behavior problems to Jerry and find someone who actually understands dog behavior.

Took our dog in for aggression. Jerry seemed very knowledgeable so we trusted him at first but even after one day of using his techniques we could tell they were only going to make our dog MORE aggressive. He wanted us yank on her scruff hard enough to make her yelp whenever she growled. After doing it one time I could immediately tell this was going to teach our dog to be afraid of our hands and maybe even lash out if we tried to pet her. Naturally, we stopped seeing Jerry. It's been a long journey, but our dog has been very happy and responsive to positive reinforcement training. If you're a dog parent dealing with aggression, I feel for you. It is very hard to find the right trainer! Please keep searching until you find someone that doesn't work with force or e-collars.
