System of a Dog

I want to share our experience working with Kellie, co-owner and trainer at System Of A Dog, in our home. Our Labradoodle Gus was just over two months old when he came to us in February. We had already decided we wanted to work with an experienced trainer, and saw that System Of A Dog had won the Best of the Mid-Valley, Community's Choice Award and their client reviews were encouraging. Kellie came to our home and began working with both of us and Gus. This was the point when I began to understand their motto, “Train yourself, Train your dog.” Understanding this was fundamental to building our relationship with Gus. Clear expectations, consistent application, boundaries, easy to understand fundamental principles we were taught and learned to apply. Training, as taught by System Of A Dog, makes life so much easier for our dog, and for us. So much easier. I’m not saying that applying these principles consistently was easy, it’s not always easy. But the end result is what we’re after, a well trained, respectful dog who understands their place in our family, our pack so to speak. This is the goal, and working with Kellie, we have been achieving that goal consistently over the last five months. Gus is now approaching eight months old and such a pleasure to live with. We understand him, what motivates him, and his needs better than we ever would have. And he understands us and what our expectations are of him. We are so grateful to Kellie & System Of a Dog for working with us, helping us develop our relationship with our dog, answering our questions, sometimes the same question several times, patiently teaching us, and demonstrating in our home how to train and care for our pup. I talked with a lot of trainers to work with my pup. I felt like because of the behavior focus this would be a good fit. After almost a week of no.pictures, I got one picture of him fenced outside. No updates without me presenting for updates. In the end my dog ended up attacking our daughter and we had to surrender him and I felt like in a hard situation we spent a lot of money to gain no support and for me to be worried about my dog for two weeks while he was with them. Update: While the owner noted they don't have record. They are definitely who I worked with and did text to verify it was me which includes the chain of texts while we was there.

System of a Dog has worked with many of my dogs and they are phenomenal. They are so accommodating, extremely communicative and they explain things so well. I have brought them things with my dogs that I've struggled with for long periods and they can have it fixed in a matter of minutes by explaining to me what the dog is thinking and how to approach the situation. They are so friendly and will put you at ease immediately. I am so glad I found them and I now use them for all my training needs. They are amazing with all ages and all breeds.
