It almost feels pointless to leave yet another well-deserved 5 star review for Travis and T.C. Canines, but maybe our needs were the same as someone who is reading these reviews. We have an extremely well-bred and intelligent Boxer puppy from one of the best breeders in the country. The problem with an extremely intelligent and well-bred puppy is that he answers to no one. He is the most amazing puppy - friendly, smart, loyal - but he is well aware of his awesomeness and takes direction from absolutely no one. Except Travis. And now us. Travis, all the time. Us? Most of the time. I was extremely skeptical about what Travis would be able to do in 6 days, and in fact, I tried to get him in for the 2 week advanced training. Travis said that wasn't necessary. Travis was right. When Otis came back, he was a completely different dog. My partner was worried he wouldn't be the same, which turned out to be true. He was a lot better, mostly because he was a lot more calm and secure with rules he understood instead of us yelling "No!" all the time. Otis was far from perfect, but 1,000% better behaved. However, we have dropped the ball because we haven't followed through with our part of the continuing training which Travis set out for us, and which Travis explained at length was necessary to reinforce and make permanent the training that Otis started at T.C. Canines. I was reminded to leave this long overdue review when I sat down tonight to arrange private lessons with Travis to "repair" the setbacks we have caused by not doing our part, and also to work on a couple other minor issues that have come up as Otis has gotten older. If anyone reading this has any doubts about whether T.C. Canines is the right place for your best friend, I'll finish by saying that what Travis charges is ridiculously reasonable. The amazing results are priceless.

We took our 100 lb Cane Corso to Travis for the 2 week board and train program and it was the absolute best investment ever. It was night and day - our dogs behavior had improved sooo much. I was worried that since our dog was 9 months old, that we had missed the most opportune time for training, but Travis’s 20 years of experience and clear plan for training AND followup on training allayed all of my fears. After the 2 week board and train program, he came to our home to follow up with us on her training plan and perfect some of my own actions in the training process with our dog on the homefront. Our dog now listens on command, loves her crate, is easy to manage on a leash instead of dragging me down the street, and just an overall easier more enjoyable companion animal that integrates into our daily lives, instead of running it. My husband is active duty military, and now that Travis has opened a new facility providing boarding, training, and grooming, we have been able to rely on his day boarding and overnight boarding services (which are soooo affordable) to keep our family pet safe and cared for during family travel, vacation, underways, surprise deployments, TAD’s, extra long days at work, emergencies on the homefront. He even offers a military discount. I would recommend Travis’s services to anyone and if you are military, this is the cleanest, nicest, most affordable long term option in Hampton Roads for boarding your loved pet and you can even add training onto boarding services which is a win win!
