This might be one of my favorite stories—because helping two totally different species figure out how to live together in peace is a whole different kind of magic! 💙 Thank you so much for trusting Taking The Lead with such a huge milestone as you moved in together and blended your families (fur and otherwise!). From the start, I loved seeing how thoughtful you both were about setting Pete and Louie up for success. Pete may have been the polite “only child” Shiba Inu before, but this was new territory for him—and I couldn’t be more proud of how he’s adjusted. The way he listens when told to go to his “place” says everything about how far he’s come. And seeing Louie get braver and more curious each week instead of hiding? That’s exactly the kind of gentle confidence building we aim for. It was such a joy doing both the individual work with Pete and Louie and helping them learn to coexist. Getting to tailor our in-home sessions to your real-life dynamic is one of the best parts of what we do—and you all made it easy by being so dedicated and consistent. I’m over the moon hearing how nicely the boys are cohabiting now. Truly, this is what thoughtful, proactive training can achieve, and you were the perfect team to make it happen. When you first came to us, you couldn’t even walk Mia on a leash without it turning into a full-body workout—and hosting friends at home felt impossible with her jumping all over everyone. It was clear you loved her deeply, but just needed the tools, support, and structure to help her become the calm, respectful dog you knew she could be. And wow, did she rise to the occasion! Mia worked with multiple trainers throughout her day training program (as all our dogs do!), and each one had nothing but praise for her sweet personality and the progress she made week after week. Seeing her learn how to walk calmly by your side, greet guests with manners, and actually relax in the house? That’s the real win. And it didn’t happen by accident—it happened because you showed up, stayed committed, and did the work. Awwww, Caribou 💙 From the moment we met her, we knew she had so much potential just waiting to shine through—and you made it happen. Thank you for trusting Taking The Lead Dog Training with such a big piece of your journey. Helping dogs like Caribou work through things like food guarding, fear-based reactivity, and shyness isn’t just what we do—it’s what we love. Your dedication to applying everything we worked on at home made all the difference. Behavior changes happen fastest when the humans step up—and wow, you two did that with heart and consistency. I especially loved our in-home sessions together. Getting to see Caribou in her own space and tailoring real-world advice for her unique personality (and quirks!) is one of my favorite things to do—and with a dog like her, it was a total privilege. She’s sensitive, smart, and had so much love under all that nervous energy just waiting to come out. And of course, she wasn’t just working with me. Like all our TTL dogs, Caribou had a whole team behind her—rotating through multiple trainers throughout the program so she could benefit from each person’s strengths. Benny’s story still gives me chills. From being rescued at just 3 weeks old to overcoming a broken leg and months of recovery, he’s already lived a lifetime of challenges—and seeing the way you’ve poured your heart into helping him grow makes you just as inspiring.
