I have been a veterinarian for 27 years and a dog owner for 35 (adult) years. I have rescued too many pets to count. I have actively worked closely with 6-7 different trainers over the decades. My family fell in love with a reactive corgi mix from the streets of Kansas. He made his way to my house and for over a year we enjoyed the hikes and trails that are the Colorado way of life. My approach to positive rewarding (bribing) our new family member to calmly walk past other dogs on leash failed time and time again. Despite lessons with other trainers, we found ourselves in the situation of not being able to walk past certain houses in our own neighborhood. Beans did the 5-week reactive training camp-stay with Tamed Canine. They provided reward based training to complete the foundation for him and then paired it with consistent and balanced communication through the use of his E-collar. It was so professionally and technically administrated that there was no confusion. The result? On his graduation day Beans gladly heeled past other dogs with only eyes for his human and his treat reward. Now Beans has a whole world that he can enjoy and thrive in. His days are now filled with exploration and activities. The world is his oyster..er.. his favorite ball.
