Team SamIvy

We didn't think it was possible, but Gina with Team SamIvy proved us wrong! After much research we chose Team SamIvy and had the pleasure of working with Gina to train our puppy Zoe and our nine year old Zeus. Gina was amazing! My dog Leo was having resource guarding issues. He wouldn’t listen and he actually bit me. This was going to be my last ditch effort before rehoming him. He was constantly counter surfing and begging. He now sits on place during dinner. It is such a relief. Our trainer Allie was so great. She helped me understand my dog. She is very knowledgeable and has so much experience. You can see how passionate she is and how much she loves her job. I was hesitant about the zoom process but I can tell you that it is the best way to go. Leo went through another board and train program that used the same tools as Sam ivy. Needless to say it didn’t work. He would attempt to bite me every time I tried putting on any collar. He now wears 3 collars at once at times and it doesn’t phase him when I put them on. This program taught me and my kids how to handle Leo. We committed to working with him daily and it paid off. Allie made it a great experience for our family. He also hated the crate! I took it out of storage and now it’s his happy place. Thank you Sam Ivy.

Our trainer is great. Hollie is a no nonsense trainer. She goes straight to work to make sure we get what we paid for. She also paces the training to make sure that our dog does not get overwhelmed. We are not yet half way thru the training and we are already seeing improvements in our dog's behavior. Just last week, we had people come to the house to do some work on our kitchen. Normally our dog would jump all over the workers but we put him on spot and he stayed there until we set him free which is a good 30 mins at least. As I said, we are only half way thru the training so we have yet to see how he will behave in public environment when there's a lot of distractions. Right now, he is motivated with treats. I'm waiting till we get him to a point where he will do what is expected of him even without treats. My only comment about SamIvy is that they have a one size fits all training cost per course. Our dog doesn't have much behavioral modification needed and he gets the commands so quickly so he might not need all the sessions (or full duration per session) yet we pay the same amount as everybody else. I hope they can tailor the corresponding cost and session/s depending on how the dog responds to the training.
